00:31 - we've seen some clearing some calmer conditions across much of the commonwealth

00:35 - but do we have any showers coming up in the forebrain eventually yes but for the next

00:39 - day or so this north westerly refreshing change is going to continue and tomorrow

00:44 - actually is the pick of the week before we get back to the showers

00:48 - we'll hear more about that in Ben's short range forecast on the show too today

00:51 - also on the show will have the extended forecast but first hashtag headline.

01:10 - August started tonight with

01:12 - hashtag Wisconsin tornado a powerful tornado

01:15 - tore through the badger state last Monday

01:17 - destroying towns and leaving storm chasers all struck

01:20 - this occurred shortly after a low pressure system and warm front arrived from

01:23 - Northwestern Minnesota spawning super cells

01:26 - one of which produced an era of three tornado the twister tore through the fox cities

01:30 - which is a group of communities centered along the fox river in eastern Wisconsin

01:34 - the national weather service confirmed that estimated wind

01:36 - gusts reached up to one hundred and forty miles an hour

01:39 - the track tracker this tornado began and apple ton heading due west

01:42 - while turning off several roofs of businesses and houses

01:45 - traveling approximately twelve point five miles

01:47 - and covering a width of fifteen hundred yards

01:49 - the tornado lasted about half an hour

01:51 - leaving tens of thousands of residents without power.

01:54 - No deaths or injuries reported from this event

01:57 - the state of Wisconsin has already experienced over

01:59 - twenty more tornadoes than average for this year

02:01 - with those tornado being the fourth year of three

02:04 - to impact the state in two thousand twenty six so far.

02:08 - Hashtag flash flooding

02:10 - and

02:10 - a powerful and unusual nor summer nor'easter powered

02:13 - it's way through the middle Atlantic

02:15 - and up into new England region the united states this past week

02:17 - with some local areas picking up nearly seven inches of precipitation

02:21 - a two day accumulation from July twenty ninth to thirtieth

02:25 - of six point nine three inches in the greater

02:27 - Albany area aren't they historical milestone

02:29 - setting a record unseen in one hundred and fifty two years of precipitation tracking

02:34 - massive multi day accumulation numbers even

02:36 - reached up to eleven point seven nine inches

02:38 - in skoda new York

02:40 - with much of that falling in just two days

02:42 - Pennsylvania was also impacted with areas such as Tyrone

02:45 - allentown and Bradford all experiencing hourly

02:47 - the rainfall reads several inches per hour

02:50 - throughout Wednesday and into Thursday.

02:52 - Another system made it's way through Pennsylvania this past weekend

02:55 - bringing the fifth wettest stay

02:56 - on record in williamsport

02:58 - locally heavy rainfall is possible once again this week and the extended forecasts

03:02 - but we'll have more on that tonight.

03:07 - extreme heat and wildfires have been topping

03:09 - European news headlines this summer as bad

03:11 - as the summer progresses along

03:13 - thousands of acres of land had been burning up over the past few weeks

03:16 - in the outskirts of Madrid

03:17 - and Bordeaux

03:18 - and all the way over to near

03:20 - the Greek capital city of Athens

03:22 - with some reports claiming it as the worst fire season there in may modern history.

03:26 - One of these wildfires in France has now reached a

03:28 - whopping size four times larger than the city of Paris

03:31 - hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes as the flames

03:34 - continue to spread closer to population hotspots

03:37 - since bay

03:38 - temperatures have generally been four degrees celsius above average

03:41 - was the extremes this past week reaching upwards

03:43 - of one hundred and four degrees f fahrenheit.

03:46 - Additionally

03:47 - land across much of western Europe has been extremely dry this year

03:50 - with soil moisture leaching the lowest level since two thousand and fifteen

03:53 - with all of these different factors converging together

03:56 - European governments are being forced to

03:57 - reevaluate their long term climate resilience.

04:30 - Well that was no typo there are more than five inches of rain falling in williamsport

04:35 - yesterday and you heard about it from land and good enough to be

04:38 - their fifth wettest day on record records there go back

04:41 - to eighteen ninety five also some notables with this daily rainfall yesterday it was

04:46 - the way wettest August day on record

04:48 - and the wettest day since September seventh

04:51 - of two thousand and eleven residents will remember that one that was the remnants of

04:54 - tropical storm Lee that came through the commonwealth and caused all sorts of

04:57 - flooding along the susquehanna flooded out the bloomsburg fair

05:01 - among others so some notable stuff yesterday in williamsport and while they were sort

05:05 - of the epicenter of the heaviest rain they were not the only ones

05:08 - to see heavy rain on Sunday several corridors

05:12 - of about one to four inches of rain one of which

05:14 - encompassed much of the Pittsburgh Metro area

05:17 - the biggest corridor was from the south central mountains up toward the endless

05:22 - mountains really this wide swath of two three four inch totals

05:25 - centered on William m-sport with those five inch totals

05:28 - then it sort of

05:29 - hopped skipped and jumped over berks Lancaster and Lebanon counties and then got

05:33 - fired up again from essentially the lehigh valley eastward so many locations cashing

05:38 - in on a lot of rain yesterday including some locations that got

05:41 - a little bit

05:42 - too much we're taking a break today the front

05:45 - that was causing all of that ruckus he is now

05:47 - generally out of Pennsylvania you can see it

05:50 - where it's located with the line of storms in eastern new England and then again from

05:53 - the Jersey beaches down to the south of d c

05:57 - we are now in the clear northwesterly flow is taking over or clearing the sky out and

06:02 - allowing for some refreshment to move into Pennsylvania from north to south

06:06 - today around seventy in the northern tier meanwhile still around ninety far south and

06:11 - east but a transition day tomorrow it's actually

06:13 - going to be seasonably warm still but much less

06:17 - humid

06:18 - the area you can wear that was in place this morning

06:21 - that is now getting shunted off the coast

06:23 - do points falling from the seventies through the sixties

06:26 - now even into the f fifties across the northwest plateau

06:29 - and that trend is going to continue overnight I think all of us will do points

06:32 - tonight in the forties and fifties

06:34 - allowing those overnight lows to drop-down pretty

06:36 - comfortably as well giving you the opportunity

06:39 - to give the ac a break overnight tonight at the tail end of the cold front that is

06:44 - moving through there's an area of low pressure that is

06:47 - fair stirring over the southeastern united states

06:49 - this is going to sit and spin here for the next day or a day and a half but then it's

06:53 - going to try to rejoin the jet stream and that means the humidity

06:57 - and the renewed opportunity for showers and

06:58 - storms will come right back into our forecast

07:01 - by the time we get to the middle of the week

07:03 - so there's the front that caused all the issues yesterday now moving off the east

07:07 - coast post high pressure is building in from the mid west and the great lakes

07:11 - it originated from Canada so a cooler and drier air mass continues

07:15 - to settle in overnight tonight

07:17 - this high is

07:18 - positioned just right to keep itself under control of our weather during the day

07:22 - tomorrow decent amount of sunshine but some high clouds

07:25 - along the southern tier will filter that sunshine

07:28 - that's just about it then as we move into the middle of the week

07:30 - the Bermuda high actually is going to flex its muscles a bit

07:34 - and that's going to increase the southerly flow along the east coast allowing that

07:37 - area of low pressure to try and rejoin the jet

07:40 - stream lot of moisture associated with this so

07:42 - as this enters our

07:44 - weather picture by Wednesday

07:46 - we will see the renewed risk of showers and thunderstorms return

07:50 - any of those once again

07:51 - can have some localised downpours with just how much moisture

07:55 - will be coming along with it

07:56 - tonight though I'm calling it free refreshment that northerly flow will continue to

08:00 - drop the dew points overnight tonight really a

08:02 - gorgeous evening on tap pretty much statewide

08:05 - in some of the cool spots of the north

08:07 - low to mid

08:08 - is possible as the winds go light also some patchy dense fog could develop

08:12 - in northern Pennsylvania overnight tonight

08:15 - as we head into Tuesday I'm calling it the pick of the week we'll have lots of

08:18 - sunshine especially in the north that sun will be filtered

08:21 - through some high clouds farther to the south but

08:23 - a seasonably warm day low humidity highs topping out in the eighties.

08:28 - Just about for all of us some of the high ground spots could hold in the seventies

08:32 - but a really nice day by the time we get to Wednesday the humidity already comes back

08:36 - in a big way courtesy of a southerly flow

08:39 - not everyone is going to see rain but because of how moist

08:42 - the atmosphere is going to be anywhere that does see rain

08:46 - it can come down pretty hard and cause some localized flash flooding

08:49 - another seasonably warm day the extended forecast is coming up next.

09:18 - it's time now for the extended forecast this will

09:20 - take us through the end of this work week and into the

09:23 - upcoming weekend

09:25 - of course at this time of the year we're usually talking about the dog days of summer

09:28 - I don't see big heat on the horizon

09:30 - but I do see more McGee's and more chances for locally heavy rain

09:34 - as we go through this period more on that in just a moment first will begin with a

09:37 - look back at the last forty eight hours on the water vapor satellite imagery

09:41 - gives us a sense of the steering winds aloft already see

09:43 - the beginnings of another storm system taking shape across

09:46 - the upper mid west and I think we'll be seeing a stalled

09:49 - boundary nearby as we begin this period on Thursday

09:52 - and that will produce some lift and that chance

09:55 - for more widespread rain and storms I think

09:57 - really is kind of a rinse and repeat pattern as we go through Thursday

10:01 - and Friday locally heavy rain will be possible and

10:04 - a chances will be most elevated as we go into the afternoon and evening for

10:08 - widespread shower and storm coverage

10:11 - going into Saturday I think it'll be a more scattered

10:12 - chance to notice how the pattern kind of flattens out

10:15 - it will just remain stalled I think tour north as we go through most of this weekend

10:20 - not a lot of change in terms of temperature during this period either

10:23 - I do think that we will see more isolated chances for

10:26 - showers and storms on Saturday or on Sunday and into Monday

10:30 - those two maybe the drier days of the period though of course more uncertainty

10:34 - this far out

10:35 - taking them at our precipitation tracker the rest

10:37 - is more widespread for Thursday and Friday for

10:40 - showers and storms maybe just rounds of rain in fact and I think we have the chance

10:45 - for some locally heavy rain already the

10:47 - weather prediction center highlighting excessive

10:49 - rainfall risk so keep that in mind especially

10:51 - where the ground is already saturated from this past weekend's rain

10:55 - a scattered shower showers and storms can't be rolled out on Saturday may not be

10:58 - quite as widespread the drier of the two weekend days is looking to be Sunday we may

11:03 - stay mostly dry and a Monday they'll just keep a chance

11:06 - both days for isolated thundershowers

11:08 - you're in Pennsylvania

11:09 - although humidity tracker we've got more McGee's is on the way in fact do points may

11:13 - be in the tropical range going into Thursday and for I'd aim

11:16 - a low to mid seventies some places maybe even

11:19 - upper seventies and southeast Pennsylvania so

11:21 - soupy years with us to wrap up the work week

11:24 - still likely on the uncomfortable side going into the weekend as well with

11:27 - temperatures or rather dewpoint temperatures

11:29 - in the upper sixties to low to mid seventies

11:32 - still looks like we'll see some soupy conditions to begin next work week

11:35 - as well.

11:36 - So a breakdown of our extended forecasts shows mainly more clouds than sun Thursday

11:40 - Friday and Saturday it will be muggy

11:42 - unsettled with some mild nights temperatures in the upper seventies to near ninety

11:46 - with rounds of rain and storms especially during the afternoon and evening

11:50 - on Thursday and Friday it could be locally heavy at times

11:52 - a bit more scattered on Saturday

11:54 - then scattered cloud cover on

11:56 - Sunday and Monday with some isolated thundershowers

11:59 - possible notice temperatures really don't change much

12:01 - as we go through the period

12:03 - near to slightly above average and that'll do it for the extended forecast stay with

12:20 - after Sunday's gully washers across Pennsylvania we're being treated to a gorgeous

12:24 - evening tonight across the commonwealth humidity will continue to drop in southern pa

12:29 - some clouds early but then giving way to

12:31 - mainly clear skies even their

12:33 - pair of fours up in Bradford tonight were some patchy

12:35 - dense fog could also be possible fifties for most of us

12:39 - low to mid sixties south and east but for

12:40 - everybody it will be much more comfortable tonight

12:43 - than last night Tuesday we're calling it the pick of the week lots of sunshine

12:47 - seasonably warm highs will be in the eighties but it will not be humid

12:51 - so get outside do what you need to do enjoy the day because by the time we get to

12:55 - Wednesday the humidity comes right back and it

12:57 - actually starts to come back in a pretty big way

12:59 - there'll be more clouds than sunshine and there will be some showers and

13:02 - thunderstorms that will start popping up in the afternoon

13:05 - not everyone will get a thunderstorm on Wednesday but if you see one

13:09 - it will have the opportunity to put down a lot of rain again in a short period of

13:14 - time and Caitlin as Rob alluded to in the extended forecast that theme will continue

13:18 - for Thursday and likely Friday again

13:20 - it seems like just like you said tomorrow is the

13:22 - pick of the weekend so be sure to get out there
