00:01 - So here at York fair this is our
00:03 - horticultural exhibit
00:05 - building
00:06 - and here we have our floral.
00:10 - Items
00:11 - that are
00:12 - the best
00:13 - of the best
00:14 - so we have best-in-class
00:16 - we have herbs
00:18 - we have perennials we ha have beautiful work
00:20 - that has been done is say an artistic arrangement
00:24 - here this is
00:26 - after our judges have judged this whole
00:28 - this whole exhibit throughout the fair
00:31 - all of the floral
00:32 - the judges come back and they decide on what they feel is the best in class
00:36 - from the best-in-class
00:38 - we choose our best
00:40 - horticultural or flora exhibit as they are awarded these beautiful
00:45 - crocs
00:45 - and this year they chose this lovely Lily.
00:50 - Over here.
00:51 - So each one of these have a.
00:56 - Or
00:56 - Something that they have considered within this department
00:59 - as being worthy of being on this table.
01:04 - We exhibit
01:05 - both annuals perennials
01:07 - we have house plants we have done we do our fairy gardens and
01:13 - potted or patio plants we have floral design over here
01:17 - and we also do herbs and vegetables
01:19 - we've also and within this same department
01:22 - we take care of of
01:24 - judging the
01:25 - beautiful seed art
01:27 - that is done by both children and adults
01:29 - they're judged separately in two separate categories.
01:33 - We've got.
01:36 - Step over here.
01:38 - You can see the seed art
01:40 - and it's all divided out by different.
01:43 - Age groups
01:45 - so all of these things.
01:47 - Are all considered
01:49 - in the
01:50 - considered floral
01:51 - or horticultural specimens just different types
01:55 - and our judges are always looking for
01:58 - the best of the.
02:02 - Of the class
02:03 - so
02:04 - Each if someone is doing something like a hydrangea
02:08 - they're going to look at all the hydrangeas in that class and they're going to look
02:12 - for the closest one to perfection
02:15 - and then the other winners that will be the blue and then as we go down
02:19 - they are just.
02:21 - Follow right down through to the first second third
02:24 - are children always get honorable mention because we love to encourage the children
02:30 - to continue to come back and enter at the fair
02:33 - and
02:34 - we try to
02:35 - reward them for their efforts.
02:38 - Over here some of the small
02:40 - miniature designs that we do
02:42 - so we're looking for all different ways
02:46 - that
02:47 - the floral can be you floral.
02:50 - The plants can be used.
02:55 - By our
02:56 - artists
02:57 - we also
02:58 - spend a lot of time in this department
03:00 - to make sure that we are
03:02 - providing education
03:04 - and if you look at all the signage throughout the building
03:06 - they're very nice as we're trying to educate the public
03:09 - what does it mean what are culinary herbs
03:12 - are annuals for any eagles we
03:14 - want them to learn about hydroponics and
03:17 - what they can do with these plants
03:20 - and all of this signs and all of the things that you see like
03:23 - the educational signage
03:25 - has all been provided by the garden club of York
03:28 - they have become a great supporter of this building
03:31 - and
03:31 - along with all the things they do within the community
03:34 - this is just another community project
03:37 - and it also follows all of their guidelines because they're trying to educate.
03:42 - They want us to they're teaching about floral design
03:46 - and the environment
03:48 - and
