A look at the world's largest operating steam locomotive, Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014.

00:16 - it's pretty amazing.

00:23 - We are here to celebrate the reunion of these two amazing pieces of technology

00:27 - are forty twelve the big boy engine that's been here

00:30 - at steam town since it opened in nineteen ninety five

00:33 - and the forty fourteen the only operational big boy locomotives still

00:37 - traveling around the country

00:38 - it's here on as part of its coast-to-coast tour

00:41 - and we're celebrating the first time two big boys

00:43 - have come together since the nineteen fifties.

00:47 - Out with thousands of other people

00:48 - just

00:49 - here to celebrate this amazing piece of railroading history.

00:59 - Hertz name town we're here about preserving and

01:02 - educating about our railroading legacy and how

01:04 - important that's been to our American story

01:07 - here in our two hundred and fiftieth year railroad has

01:09 - had such an important part in our country has developed

01:11 - so to see so many people come out

01:13 - being able to connect with that story

01:15 - many people I've never been here to steam town many people

01:17 - probably for all over the country and all over the world

01:20 - to witness this amazing historic event

01:22 - we hope they'll come back we have great stories to tell all year round

01:27 - it's a really exciting time for the park

01:37 - we were kind of just keeping track of their progress from

01:40 - out west

01:41 - and

01:42 - it actually did come through endicott just a few days ago

01:45 - I think it was

01:46 - on Friday

01:46 - I went and checked it out I saw it coming straight through

01:49 - it was off awesome post super loud

01:51 - and we actually

01:52 - care plan on coming down here a few weeks ago we got the tickets and.

01:57 - Plans for the trip

01:58 - come down.

01:59 - Well I've

02:00 - been a railroad buff forever.

02:02 - About mostly street cars

02:04 - and

02:05 - this

02:05 - is a locomotive that I'll probably never get to

02:08 - see west of here it's the first time it's been

02:10 - east of the Mississippi

02:12 - and we've got both of them

02:14 - here together.

02:16 - So.

02:17 - For me it's a big deal to see both of them and actually see this run.

02:21 - I chased it for two days and

02:23 - it gets pretty good video.

02:38 - They are among the largest and most powerful locomotives

02:41 - ever built

02:42 - both built in the nineteen forties and nineteen forty one

02:45 - they were built to lol five mile freight trains over the

02:47 - wasatch mountains from Cheyenne Wyoming to ogden Utah

02:51 - they were such an important part of the last generation steam locomotives

02:55 - amazing pieces of technology amazing pieces of engineering

02:58 - twenty five of them build only eight of them still survive today

03:02 - one that is operational and that's the one that's operated by the union pacific

03:06 - we're proud to host coming in here today

03:08 - to meet up with our own

03:10 - forty twelve

03:11 - big boy engines.

03:32 - Great that we're able to high highlight the

03:33 - importance of this story in our whole American story

03:36 - it it's a thrill that you have to be there to see

03:39 - and you feel it it's it's an amazing three day thing

03:43 - it was just really incredible I wasn't really sure

03:45 - how he's going to feel

03:47 - but I was almost

03:48 - getting a little teary eyed when it went by so as everyone else with

03:51 - a grin ear to ear on every single person that aw come through

03:54 - it was.

03:56 - All I can say it was really incredible.

03:59 - Railroading has

04:01 - it is it is the story that has

04:04 - connected the.

04:05 - Coast coast-to-coast that

04:07 - brought the country together helped

04:09 - accelerate the development of the country we

04:10 - would not be the country we are today without

04:13 - the railroads

04:14 - and to be able to tell that story share it with so many

04:16 - other people and have them communicate that outward

04:19 - I think it's a really fantastic opportunity

04:21 - we have visitors here our staff here visiting from golden spike

04:25 - where the transcontinental railroad came together

04:27 - and here union pacific in their museum car

04:29 - also highlights that transcontinental railroad

04:31 - that's really what makes us a true continental nation

04:35 - and here we are

04:36 - generations later celebrating how that story has transformed our country

04:40 - and made a session important and vital part of america's

04:44 - two hundred and fifty years.
