00:29 - I have to tell you when i looked over today's list of guest speakers

00:33 - one thing immediately stood out to me.

00:36 - Every one of them as a true friend

00:39 - of organized labor

00:40 - in the blue collar workers who built this commonwealth.

00:45 - Laughs

00:49 - together

00:51 - we share the commitment of protecting good paying jobs

00:54 - strengthening Pennsylvania's middle class

00:57 - and creating opportunities for all working families.

01:00 - Since nineteen fourteen local five twenty has proudly

01:03 - represented skilled trade the people throughout central pa.

01:07 - Today we represent more than one thousand

01:09 - seven hundred and fifty plumbers pipefitters

01:12 - welders and service techs.

01:15 - Across twenty three counties.

01:17 - Our members build and maintain our schools hospitals

01:21 - manufacturing facilities power plants water treatment systems

01:25 - and commercial buildings that keep our

01:27 - communities running every day.

01:30 - One of our greatest strengths.

01:33 - Is our apprenticeship program.

01:40 - Our apprenticeship program provides young men and women

01:43 - with a debt free pathway to the middle class

01:46 - while supplying our contractors

01:48 - with highly trained workforce

01:50 - that they need to succeed in today's market.

01:54 - Governor Josh shapiro

01:56 - has recognized that investing in skilled trades in organized labor

02:00 - is an investment in Pennsylvania's future.

02:03 - His administration has expanded support for apprenticeship programs and career

02:08 - and technical education while also investing

02:11 - in critical infrastructure

02:13 - throughout the entire region.

02:16 - Those efforts are creating opportunities for working families

02:19 - and helping to ensure

02:21 - those projects are built by Pennsylvania's highly skilled workforce.

02:25 - Like many of the building trades in the area.

02:28 - Local five twenty is seeing these opportunities firsthand.

02:32 - Thanks to the historic growth in construction the market across the commonwealth.

03:17 - she served with distinction on the Harrisburg city council

03:20 - and in the

03:21 - house of representatives.

03:23 - Today a senator for the fifteenth district.

03:27 - Which is where we are standing right now.

03:30 - She continues to champion working people.

03:33 - Strengthening local communities

03:36 - and bring people together

03:38 - to solve problems.

04:31 - we have here represented Dave napkin

04:38 - we are stronger together and we appreciate your support.

04:44 - the speakers you'll be hearing very soon

04:47 - have either flipped the seat or will flip a seat and i have to remind you

04:52 - the master of flipping

04:54 - is governor Joshua piero.

04:56 - Thirteen years ago he flipped the Montgomery county board of commissioners.

05:03 - And became board chair there was one hundred and forty year republican stronghold

05:09 - that he changed and shut up

05:11 - so it makes sense that we're here under his

05:13 - leadership because he knows how to flip seats

05:16 - he also knows that we're much stronger together he

05:19 - has already supported our dauphin county delegation by

05:23 - adding

05:24 - two more million dollars for our fire.

05:27 - Department that helped the whole region

05:30 - when it comes to firefighting

05:32 - he has put in an historic number of public education

05:34 - dollars so that our students can learn and thrive

05:39 - and he has been an amazing partner in helping to jump start the downtown

05:45 - revitalization project he believes in that project.

05:49 - Also folks.

05:53 - We are going to make things happen here today.

05:56 - What i long for and i'm very excited for is to have

05:59 - a congress person that i can partner with

06:02 - for my district the last time i had that and i wasn't even in office with Tim Holden

06:07 - and that was a long time ago can you imagine having to know congresswoman

06:12 - to now cellphone

06:14 - and talk about the issues that we believe in in helping the most vulnerable and add

06:21 - more affordable housing and raising the minimum

06:23 - wage on the federal level there are so much to do

06:26 - that we're stuck

06:27 - with

06:28 - them.

06:33 - I want a partner in DC

06:34 - not an embarrassment.

06:36 - Sound.

06:39 - Together working together

06:42 - and a couple of hours you guys are going to be looking at your

06:44 - phones on the radar

06:46 - to see about a storm.

06:48 - You guys remember

06:49 - the south central delegation democrats

06:52 - we are the storm and we're going to kick ass this summer.

06:56 - It is my honor to bring up someone very

06:59 - special who has worked very hard for the seat.

07:05 - She knows the district and she knows

07:07 - how to connect with people

07:09 - let's bring up

07:10 - Sarah akhenaten the next state representative for house district eighty eight.

07:16 - Though.

07:24 - So we are so excited because in November we

07:27 - are going to have a moment in Pennsylvania

07:30 - and this moment is so needed

07:32 - do you know what it is.

07:34 - We are going to have more

07:36 - then just wine in the house

07:38 - fireplace

07:39 - do you know what that means for you

07:41 - means

07:41 - all the good stuff that the house has been doing

07:43 - we are going to multiply and

07:45 - we're going to make sure that minimum wage gets passed again for an increase.

07:51 - We're going to take care of our housing

07:53 - we're going to make sure people have

07:55 - education

07:57 - and all of the things that are working families need

08:00 - we're going to be funding these programs

08:02 - with so much more

08:04 - guy

08:05 - right

08:06 - and we're so excited and then we're going to flip the senate

08:08 - and we're going to.

08:10 - We're going to fight

08:11 - the lead of our governor

08:12 - and we are going to make sure that we represent

08:14 - Pennsylvania in the best way but how are we going to do it

08:17 - we're going to do it because you've committed today cause you've shown us

08:20 - that we are going to knock doors

08:22 - up and down the ballot

08:23 - bottom to the top top to the bottom

08:25 - because

08:26 - every seat

08:27 - counts in November

08:28 - we need to make sure that we don't just flip

08:31 - the house

08:32 - we flip the senate

08:33 - we make sure we secure the governor and that we make sure

08:36 - that we send you our souls into congress.

08:39 - Though i know the weather's not nice

08:44 - but we all have access to umbrellas

08:47 - and it

08:47 - sure is a heck of a lot better than it was yesterday right

08:50 - so please join us and make sure that we don't leave any door untouched

08:55 - make sure that we talk to every single neighbor

08:58 - even people that you may not think you should have a

09:00 - conversation with we need to be sitting there listening

09:03 - because it's up to each and every one of you in here

09:05 - for us to have that moment November

09:07 - that moment is going to be more than just a blue wave

09:10 - it is going to be all of us splashing all of Pennsylvania and becoming more blue

09:15 - and making sure all of our neighbors are taken care of

09:17 - so thank you i'm going to turn it over over

09:20 - to James Malone who knows a lot about

09:22 - hard work

09:23 - he knows a lot about

09:25 - flipping a district

09:26 - and making sure that he's working across the aisle to make sure our neighbors are

09:41 - So i tend to talk on a lot so I've got a little timer here.

09:46 - just in case you don't know i am James Andrew Malone i am that it's

09:52 - district

09:53 - senate.

09:55 - The thirty six

09:56 - senatorial district

09:58 - state senator.

10:04 - i won a special election.

10:07 - In march of last year

10:09 - a little less know a little more than five hundred votes i want to reiterate that

10:15 - just for a second because we have everybody coming out everyone knocking on doors

10:19 - but we still have that mentality of

10:21 - oh well there's a lot of repub chickens or oh i dunno

10:24 - I'll talk to my neighbor he's got a mega flag or

10:27 - whatever.

10:29 - We wanted and our fifteen.

10:32 - We.

10:34 - We.

10:35 - When

10:37 - we had when Josh shapiro was in

10:40 - twenty twenty two

10:42 - twenty four twenty two whatever it is my brain is a little cry

10:46 - in twenty two

10:48 - he carried

10:50 - our district as well.

10:52 - You

10:53 - know that we can win if we show up and do the work

10:58 - and that is the biggest thing that i'm doing right now

11:02 - every day

11:03 - i will say we only have eleven senatorial session days

11:07 - left in the year

11:08 - i would really love that to change and it will

11:12 - with a senate majority Democratic

11:15 - leadership.

11:18 - Because we have a backlog

11:21 - of awesome

11:22 - bipartisan bills

11:25 - sitting

11:25 - waiting for us to get to

11:27 - obviously they'll all have to be reintroduced

11:30 - however

11:31 - we can actually do the work

11:33 - have committee meetings get this stuff done and and voted through

11:37 - everything from like we've said raising the minimum wage

11:41 - answering and dealing with our issues that are

11:44 - coming up because of healthcare and everything else

11:47 - and we can really push this forward

11:50 - and i'm also excited at the idea of having

11:53 - Janelle styles in congress

11:55 - because for shankly i'm writing our congress of folks

11:59 - bow

12:00 - about every three months

12:03 - and i haven't even gotten a hey i got your letterman.

12:06 - So you know we need to

12:09 - push forward

12:10 - we need to support the governor

12:12 - we need to support everybody up and down the valid

12:14 - and talk to your neighbors

12:16 - because they're caring about the same things you are

12:19 - they just don't know it yet.

12:22 - Give them a talk give them a shout and let's really push this forward

12:25 - so i am introducing

12:27 - Eugene depasquale

12:30 - i am always.

12:32 - I'm always impressed on his athleticism

12:37 - but you all know that he's also

12:39 - been extremely good with our taxes

12:42 - and he's bringing that leadership again

12:44 - to our Pennsylvania democrat

12:46 - Eugene it's all yours.

12:49 - That.

12:55 - We're going to reelect senator mon our way

12:58 - and

13:01 - and we're going to add to our state house majority as well with Sarah.

13:07 - My only prophet Sarah and she does not have an age like my daughter does but

13:10 - we we

13:11 - she's going to vote the right way in Harrisburg so

13:14 - thank you everyone thank you for being here

13:16 - what a great turnout.

13:18 - Good to see so many friends here

13:21 - i

13:21 - just want to start off by saying.

13:24 - The energy that i see here in this room is

13:28 - the exact same energy i see in rooms and barns

13:33 - and

13:33 - picnic pavilions

13:35 - all over our state because we are going to take our country back there November.

13:40 - Hey

13:46 - now we're here to talk about rise up Pennsylvania

13:49 - something that

13:50 - all of us are

13:51 - incredibly proud of here in the Pennsylvania

13:54 - Democratic party

13:55 - and our partnership

13:57 - with our great governor Josh shapiro.

14:02 - Over the last nine months

14:04 - we've been building a statewide organization

14:07 - county by county

14:08 - and soon precinct by precinct

14:10 - that is ready to meet this moment

14:13 - in Pennsylvania

14:14 - for what our country needs

14:16 - now.

14:18 - James brought up my athleticism it sadly was

14:20 - no not good enough to play for the pirates.

14:24 - But it was good enough to be an iron man athlete

14:28 - and that gets me to how i got this gig here see

14:31 - about a year ago this weekend

14:33 - i had a horrible bike accident

14:36 - at an iron man raised in upstate new York

14:39 - and as i'm in the orthopedic surgeons office.

14:43 - On that much today i get a call from the governor.

14:47 - Now i thought he was calling to ask how my clavicle was

14:51 - and i didn't know how maybe state police the state police

14:55 - had given them the information and i said oh it's so nice of you to

14:59 - call and ask about my clavicle and shoulder

15:02 - that by gangsters pretty tough because

15:04 - i

15:04 - know what you're talking about he said but

15:06 - i need due to take over the Pennsylvania Democratic party.

15:11 - Which is the point where the orthopedic surgeon should

15:14 - have said you gotta hang up we gotta get to work your.

15:18 - Butt.

15:19 - Similar to the governor

15:21 - and similar to

15:22 - my colleagues behind me.

15:24 - When you get asked to serve you serve

15:28 - and when you get asked to step up and fight

15:30 - Donald trump and help build something you do that

15:33 - and all of us this year

15:35 - have our role to play

15:36 - and this is mine.

15:39 - Since that

15:40 - well at first i did get the shorter taken up so well as a from that moment on but i

15:44 - first got my shoulder taken care of

15:46 - but since that moment

15:47 - we've been building an infrastructure all over this state

15:50 - improving our voter registration

15:52 - prior to

15:54 - me taking over as your chair

15:56 - we had one one voter registration month

16:00 - in the previous five years

16:03 - and that one month was

16:05 - the month of the job decision

16:07 - when roe is overturned

16:08 - that was the only month for the previous

16:10 - five years that we had won voter registration

16:12 - or i thought something had to be done about that

16:16 - so i made sure that our resources went into

16:18 - actually

16:19 - we were the Democratic party we should be out registering

16:22 - da

16:22 - democrats.

16:25 - Well we have won the voter registration battle

16:28 - over Republicans now for ten straight months.

16:32 - That

16:38 - and well before that delusional unhinged speech

16:43 - i guess it was a speech Thursday night.

16:47 - And are some times where you say look what

16:49 - if anybody ever says oh

16:51 - what type of person should be president.

16:54 - In future generations i'm going to show them that video is a

16:56 - the opposite of this.

16:59 - Having said that we have to be ready for that.

17:03 - So we've been built building also

17:05 - a county by county.

17:08 - Voter protection effort

17:09 - that is can be prepared to make sure

17:11 - that every single voter

17:13 - gets to cast their ballot

17:15 - this November.

17:17 - Though

17:24 - now with governor shapiro's leadership

17:26 - the Pennsylvania Democratic party

17:28 - and

17:29 - his unveiling today and i see everyone got the

17:31 - the

17:32 - buttons so

17:33 - i see the rise up so

17:34 - that gave a little bit of indication what it was called today.

17:38 - We're unveiling rise up Pennsylvania

17:40 - an unprecedented mid term coordinated organizing effort

17:44 - that is going to help us win races

17:46 - up

17:47 - and down the ballot already rise up Pennsylvania has

17:51 - twenty seven offices

17:53 - across Pennsylvania.

17:55 - Though

18:00 - including in our key legislative battle races

18:04 - where we get.

18:05 - Two or three for one meaning

18:07 - Ravi is a focused

18:08 - on making sure we reelect our governor

18:10 - but where we can

18:11 - maximize our dollars

18:12 - in key statehouse key state senate

18:14 - and key congrats anil races as well

18:17 - we have just under

18:18 - one hundred full time organizers

18:21 - reading volunteer teams

18:22 - that have already logged

18:24 - over five

18:25 - thousand shifts

18:27 - and

18:33 - because i heard this over and over again and believe me I've had my ups and downs

18:36 - portico and you learn lessons in life.

18:39 - Auditor people say we can't wait

18:41 - till September to start knocking on doors well

18:45 - i agree

18:46 - that's why we've already knocked

18:47 - over

18:48 - sixty three thousand doors.

18:52 - That

18:57 - and we are just getting started

19:00 - from now through election day we are going to keep our foot on the gas

19:04 - to make sure

19:05 - that we are not only taking advantage of the moment

19:07 - that

19:08 - the delusional president has given us

19:10 - with this political opportunity

19:12 - but also

19:13 - expanding on our state house

19:14 - flipping the state senate reelecting our governor

19:17 - and making Donald trump

19:18 - a lame duck president

19:21 - and none of this would be pop possible without winning rise up Pennsylvania

19:32 - without our county parties

19:33 - and our legislative

19:35 - colleagues both in the house and senate

19:37 - these are the people who know their communities look

19:39 - too often we've seen as we all know that as

19:42 - in especially in a presidential campaign

19:44 - people parachuting and they don't know the state and there's always this

19:48 - this

19:48 - rub of controversy

19:50 - well we now have everything under one roof here

19:52 - participating as one team

19:55 - the caucuses both house and senate

19:57 - the governor the party

19:59 - and the congressional races

20:00 - we are operating obviously each candidate has to do their own thing

20:03 - but we are operating

20:05 - as one single unit

20:07 - and trusting the people that know their precincts

20:09 - and their counties best

20:11 - trust your judgment

20:12 - so that we can make inroads

20:13 - in every single precinct in this state.

20:17 - And

20:22 - in this new era

20:24 - of the Pennsylvania Democratic party we have been dedicated from day one

20:27 - to empowering and working closely with our partners

20:30 - including

20:31 - organized labor

20:32 - and i want to thank Jim

20:34 - and local five twenty for allowing us to use

20:36 - this hall today

20:37 - that.

20:42 - Just the fact that you're here on a Saturday and let's be clear not the best air

20:46 - quality day in the history of central Pennsylvania

20:49 - you don't need me to tell you what is at stake this November

20:53 - and if you need to be reminded

20:55 - as a former college football player we'd sometimes watch a film

20:59 - get a tape of that

21:00 - or i guess you would say digital version of that some of us would say tape

21:03 - of the president's speech

21:05 - and just every now and then

21:06 - watch it again

21:08 - to remind yourself

21:09 - of what is at stake this November.

21:13 - Though

21:19 - now.

21:20 - We are here in the heart of what i think is going to be one of the most

21:24 - important

21:26 - congressional races

21:27 - i'm going to say in the history of the united states.

21:32 - But before i introduce that i want you to

21:35 - keep in mind this is the autonomy

21:37 - i need you to be precise on this one.

21:40 - You need to sign up to volunteer.

21:43 - Okay

21:44 - and it's easy as texting rise up.

21:49 - In all capitals here

21:50 - i don't know if you have to have them in all caps

21:54 - but it's no

21:55 - but it's all kept here so i'm just going to tell you it's all kept here

21:59 - but i don't think you are i actually have to have all caps

22:02 - but text rise up

22:04 - to.

22:13 - where you can volunteer

22:17 - and to make sure that you are in the system

22:25 - that we win up and down the ballot this November.

23:25 - got to get together with the governor a little more op but.

23:29 - He is the one who launched our campaign this time at Whitaker center

23:33 - and i remember he said you know everybody jenelle

23:38 - worked her you know what off last time she came very close good to see you.

23:43 - And

23:45 - then he went like this

23:47 - what.

23:48 - What did you do what did you do when he pointed everybody out yan Nate you tell

23:53 - love it red veil one thank you

23:55 - he pointed everybody out and he said what did you do because it's

23:58 - all of us working together and how great that we have a governor that brings that on

24:02 - when i left the t v news set in two thousand twenty three

24:05 - one of the first things we did was get out there Jaime.

24:09 - Was get out there hi mr madsen representative

24:12 - and

24:13 - was get out there and we knocked doors we knocked doors for school board members we

24:17 - knocked doors for judges we knocked doors for our state reps

24:21 - states entered a pedicab.

24:23 - We got out there

24:24 - we did this kind of thing and it feels pretty good when you see people start to get

24:27 - elected and you're like yeah i helped with that i

24:30 - did that so thank you all for being here Matt round

24:33 - really good to have you here

24:35 - and that

24:36 - you know

24:37 - a governor who can do that you have to really love

24:39 - and i have to say this time of year hi Jerry Mitchell

24:43 - as I've been running around to houses and talking to voters wherever we can

24:48 - and

24:49 - you know they talk about a couple of things they talk about the affordability crisis

24:52 - and it's everything it's a grocery is your utilities

24:55 - hopefully you have a house over your head a roof over your head

24:58 - and now gas because of the war in Iran it's all

25:01 - a big deal to people

25:03 - and people are being forced to many cases to make choices now do i pay for the

25:06 - groceries or the healthcare my son needs

25:09 - and that's not the way we should be living in america and we should not have

25:13 - a u s representative a congressman

25:15 - who put us in that kind of position now

25:18 - this is a guy thank you very much.

25:21 - This is a guy who over the past couple of weeks was the

25:26 - only

25:27 - Pennsylvania

25:28 - republican or democrat to vote against the biggest

25:30 - housing bill the biggest affordable housing bill

25:33 - to come through us congress in thirty years the biggest in thirty years.

25:39 - I felt the same way.

25:41 - But that's not how he finished the week you know

25:44 - he finished the week by saying

25:46 - we've got to get rid of the seventeenth amendment because he does not think

25:50 - that me or you are capable of

25:53 - selecting our u s senators he thinks state legislatures should do it.

25:57 - He doesn't take were able to do i now i now it's like

26:00 - yeah you got to kind of hold your nose over the whole thing

26:03 - but he did that although it was nothing about his seat because he's happy with his

26:07 - seat so the house is fine but we don't know how to pick our senators

26:10 - he thinks state legislature should do it

26:12 - and he capped off that week

26:14 - by co-sponsoring and taking all the funding away for the peace corps.

26:18 - All of the funding

26:19 - yet so here's the guy who cut all the u s a i d jobs thank you very much

26:23 - i know it's not directed at me

26:25 - and

26:26 - it out here's a guy who does that and let's not forget about January sixth which he

26:30 - was one of the architects of and asked for a presidential pardon

26:35 - and this is after he said the Italian satellites.

26:38 - Screwed up Donald trump's votes by changing all those about Joe biden votes.

26:43 - Even though Scott Berry's boats were in those same machines and they were just fine

26:46 - again he likes his job he's fine.

26:49 - Well

26:50 - i want you to know that

26:52 - if you elect me.

26:53 - We're going to do some things right away we're going to repeal the chaotic tariff

26:56 - taxes I've been to a number of small businesses.

26:59 - Thank you.

27:01 - Then to a number of small businesses where they're really upset about it they're like

27:04 - Janelle we don't know if we're going to survive

27:06 - let alone thrive so that needs to be taken care of

27:09 - we're going to make the affordable healthcare tax credits permanent and expand

27:13 - thank you

27:14 - so and by the way

27:16 - Scott Perry again the only one in penn sylvania no other republican no other democrat

27:20 - he voted against the government's ability to negotiate

27:23 - prescription drug prices with pharmaceutical companies

27:26 - whom he's taking a lot of money from

27:28 - and he voted against our ability to do that it still passed we got ten drugs

27:33 - including Insulin for people who are on medicare and older.

27:36 - How about we all get the same thing how about we increased the drugs.

27:41 - Available accessible that's something we are going to fight for

27:45 - and also the other thing i hear from everybody corruption

27:49 - corruption

27:50 - and it starts

27:51 - from the ceo on down.

27:54 - That's something we all need to worry about whether it's

27:56 - term limits

27:57 - age limits you know you can be a brilliant twenty two

28:00 - year old twenty three year old twenty four year old

28:02 - you can't get into the u s house until you are

28:05 - twenty five and maybe we ought to put a limit on the top two

28:09 - they're supposed to be representatives for all of us

28:12 - and how about maybe we shouldn't be buying stocks i

28:18 - sold all mine before i decided to run for office because

28:22 - yeah thank you

28:24 - because they're privy

28:25 - to information

28:30 - so they and their families making millions of dollars

28:33 - off of insider information we are never privy to

28:36 - that makes a difference and i think we've seen the result

28:40 - in the branding and the nastiness and the greediness

28:43 - and i think everybody's pretty sick and tired of it.

28:50 - So you're looking at somebody who is going to

28:53 - take care of your social security i'm not going to ever raise

28:56 - the age you made a contract with america you paid into it forever

29:01 - and you know it matters that you can

29:03 - retire with dignity

29:05 - or however you choose your years after are you.

29:08 - After you are finished working

29:10 - it makes a big difference and

29:12 - i'm going to protect that i'm not going to raise the

29:15 - age one of our first ads Jim enders where do you go

29:18 - and us-backed

29:19 - gyms over there you talked to he talked to you earlier

29:21 - one of our first ads as Jeremy is at a construction site and he's like

29:24 - i can't do this till i'm sixty nine let's stop there

29:35 - and so you've got somebody who's going to protect our basic needs and who's going to

29:42 - work on a lot of other things the war in Iran needs to go away when we talk about

29:48 - it was opened the day before you went to war.

29:52 - So you know let alone i see you shaking your head number sex

29:56 - anyway let alone.

29:57 - All of the

29:59 - military men and women who have died doing this and

30:02 - all the people in the middle east who have died.

30:05 - That's not okay and then you look at the cost

30:07 - of gas for everyone and that's really not okay

30:10 - so no that through all my years of being on television and listening and shining a

30:15 - bright white light on your concerns and your issues

30:18 - that you are going to still have somebody who listens you're going to have somebody

30:20 - who goes away to Washington and tries to get done what you need to have done

30:24 - and then comes back and communicates with you why or why we could not do it

30:30 - yeah somebody said that's what we need i'm like yes it is.

30:36 - and meetings and twenty nineteen twenty nineteen.

32:49 - and every single woman and man of organized labor

32:53 - Pennsylvania is proud to be

32:55 - a labor unions though let me just tell you i am

33:05 - so grateful

33:06 - to be your governor

33:07 - to serve as the

33:09 - forty eight governor of this great commonwealth

33:12 - and to be

33:13 - a gst governor every single day i go to work

33:17 - fighting for you

33:18 - and we've been able to work together to get a whole lot of stuff done.

33:22 - We've made historic investments in our public schools

33:26 - universal free breakfast

33:28 - is now the law

33:29 - in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

33:32 - After decades of decline the number of teachers is rising in Pennsylvania.

33:44 - Our test scores are going up

33:47 - truancy is going down

33:49 - and more opportunity is around

33:51 - for all god's children in our commonwealth good schools and

33:56 - safe communities are at the heart

33:58 - of the progress that we're making

34:00 - thanks to investments in

34:02 - hiring more police in India investments in

34:05 - organizations that are fighting crime in our communities

34:08 - violent crime is down

34:10 - sixteen percent across the commonwealth

34:13 - and homicides are down thirty nine percent.

34:17 - At good schools and

34:20 - safe communities and I'll tell you what else we're doing

34:23 - we're growing an economy

34:24 - and building communities that work for all

34:27 - communities where you can afford to live

34:29 - and where you have a job.

34:31 - For forty three straight months

34:34 - Pennsylvania's unemployment rate

34:36 - has been below

34:37 - the national rate

34:38 - we've created.

34:40 - We've created more jobs

34:43 - than all but two states in the entire country

34:46 - our labor unions are filled

34:48 - more people are going to work

34:50 - we're creating more opportunity for all pennsylvanians

34:54 - rural urban and suburban.

34:57 - At the same time

34:59 - what we are seeing is

35:00 - we're putting money back in Pennsylvania

35:03 - pocket

35:03 - because we know they're struggling today

35:05 - on my watch we have cut taxes

35:08 - ten different times

35:09 - the biggest targeted tax cut

35:11 - for seniors in more than

35:13 - two decades.

35:15 - About a million.

35:17 - About a million working Pennsylvania's

35:20 - are now getting up to eight hundred and fifty bucks back in their pockets

35:25 - because we

35:26 - value people who are working who are struggling to get ahead

35:30 - and who understand how challenging this moment is

35:33 - every time we put a buck in somebody's pay pocket

35:36 - Donald trump unfortunately takes two bucks out

35:38 - the other side

35:39 - but we're doing that we're

35:41 - good schools and

35:42 - safe communities and economy that lifts people up

35:45 - cutting costs and I'll tell you what else we're doing

35:47 - we're protecting

35:48 - people's fundamental freedoms

35:50 - right here

35:51 - in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

35:54 - I made a commitment.

35:57 - I made a commitment to you that on my watch

36:00 - Pennsylvania would never

36:02 - be a right to work state

36:04 - and we value the union way of life here.

36:07 - I made a commitment to you.

36:11 - Four years ago in the wake of dobbs

36:14 - that we would trust women to make decisions over their own bodies

36:18 - and protect access

36:20 - to abortion in the commonwealth

36:21 - and we've done just that.

36:24 - I made a commitment to protect your fundamental rights

36:29 - and the most fundamental freedom you have as an American

36:33 - is the right to vote

36:35 - and no matter how hard they've tried to take it away

36:37 - here in Pennsylvania I've stood tall

36:39 - and protected your right to vote

36:41 - and i will again in the future.

36:44 - He may.

36:48 - We've made a whole lot of progress together

36:50 - but all of it

36:52 - is on the line right now

36:54 - all of it is being threatened by people

36:57 - who just simply want to be a rubber stamp for this president

37:01 - people like

37:02 - my opponent and the opponents of the people

37:04 - who are up here today

37:07 - but i know dolphin county i know Pennsylvania

37:10 - we are going to stand up to Donald trump's

37:12 - chaos and cruelty and corruption

37:15 - and we will send a resounding

37:17 - message this November

37:19 - that we are better than that

37:20 - and we value

37:22 - our freedoms

37:23 - here in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

37:26 - I dunno.

37:32 - I dunno this group probably did i dunno if you

37:34 - took the time to

37:35 - watch a

37:36 - crazier speech the other night did you see that.

37:41 - I mean

37:42 - let me tell you something this guy.

37:45 - Is just unhinge.

37:47 - He's just untethered

37:49 - from reality

37:51 - and he went on national TV in the white house.

37:56 - And he insulted the American people's intelligence

37:59 - and he insulted Pennsylvania.

38:02 - He is continuing

38:03 - to attack our elections in Pennsylvania and really across

38:08 - the united states

38:10 - but we have an opportunity to stand up

38:12 - against that

38:13 - and to protect our democracy

38:15 - and nope people no matter how unhinged that seemed i know it left you feeling uneasy

38:21 - and worried

38:22 - and scared

38:24 - but this is not a moment to retreat and worry

38:27 - this is a moment to stand tall

38:29 - and fight for what we believe in

38:32 - and I'll remind you because

38:33 - i got your back in all this

38:35 - the back in twenty twenty

38:37 - when Donald trump

38:38 - lost the election here in Pennsylvania.

38:42 - He

38:46 - he and his enablers

38:48 - went to court

38:50 - and sued me forty three different times i was the attorney general back then

38:55 - to try and throw out.

38:57 - Your votes

38:58 - to try and thwart the will of the people

39:01 - here in Pennsylvania.

39:03 - Let's remember

39:04 - he sued us forty three times

39:06 - trump went one forty three i went forty three and oh

39:10 - and we defended your right to vote

39:12 - and we will again

39:14 - and i know

39:18 - he's

39:19 - especially concerning

39:21 - because he's got a whole bunch of people lined up behind them

39:25 - who just going to rubber stamp

39:26 - everything

39:27 - he does.

39:28 - One of those guys who lines up behind them and

39:31 - rubber stamps every single thing he does as

39:35 - is a guy named Scott Perry who right now.

39:38 - That they

39:39 - have heard of him

39:41 - again.

39:42 - But understand Scott Perry

39:44 - is not only working hard to undermine your rights and freedoms rip away the freedom of

39:50 - women to make decisions over their own bodies

39:52 - attack the union way of life

39:55 - try and make it harder for you to vote

39:57 - and dirty up our air and

39:59 - make our streams more polluted this is the work

40:02 - he acts actively does every day

40:04 - here's what else

40:05 - he did.

40:06 - He decided

40:08 - that the people at the very very very top

40:11 - deserved the tax cut

40:13 - and then he decided the way he was going to pay for that tax cut

40:17 - was on the backs of people's

40:19 - health care

40:20 - and food assistance in Pennsylvania.

40:23 - Now understand this isn't

40:24 - theoretical

40:25 - this isn't just

40:27 - you know political talk

40:29 - this is real

40:30 - for people in Pennsylvania especially

40:32 - here in south central Pennsylvania.

40:35 - As a result of his vote

40:37 - i voted i have to believe he knew was wrong

40:40 - but he felt that he had to do it

40:42 - because he has

40:43 - whenever his boss

40:44 - tells him to do

40:46 - his boss should be that

40:48 - the million or so people in this congressional

40:50 - district instead he does whatever Donald trump

40:52 - tells him to this is the infection

40:55 - that exists right now

40:56 - in the congress of the united states that we've got to cure

40:59 - but as a result of what he did

41:02 - three

41:02 - hundred and two ten thousand Pennsylvania and

41:06 - are losing medicaid access

41:08 - to one hundred thousand

41:09 - are losing their healthcare assistance through the affordable care act

41:13 - ninety thousand already have

41:16 - a half a million of our neighbors

41:18 - don't have healthcare

41:20 - because of how Scott

41:21 - Perry

41:22 - voted

41:23 - let them at sink.

41:25 - You want to talk about cruelty

41:27 - he also voted

41:28 - to strip away.

41:31 - The support that people who are hungry rely on

41:35 - it's called snap.

41:37 - I'm a father of four he genes a father

41:39 - of two the idea

41:41 - that as a parent

41:42 - you wouldn't be able to feed your kids.

41:46 - Just clause at me breaks my heart

41:48 - and then for this guy to come along

41:51 - and take away the lifeline that those people had

41:54 - for their children

41:55 - that is wrong

41:56 - we need to replace Scott Perry in the congress of the united states.

42:01 - Though I'll tell you where else he's wrong.

42:09 - He does whatever Donald trump

42:10 - tells him to

42:12 - including

42:13 - backing this

42:14 - war of choice

42:16 - in Iran.

42:17 - A war that was

42:18 - wrong to get into that the president united states

42:22 - has no idea how to get out of.

42:25 - I'm sad to

42:26 - report to you that we learn just in the last hour or so.

42:31 - That two

42:32 - brave American service members

42:34 - were killed

42:35 - overnight.

42:37 - Killed in this war

42:38 - one is still

42:40 - an additional one is missing.

42:42 - I hope we can all join together

42:45 - and pray for strength for their families to get through this

42:49 - challenging moment

42:50 - and pray that the memories

42:53 - of these brave service members will forever be a blessing

42:56 - upon us.

42:58 - We also

42:59 - acknowledge that

43:00 - this war of choice should have never started.

43:03 - We have to find a way out of this

43:06 - i want someone

43:07 - who is going to courageously stand up

43:10 - and ask the right questions

43:12 - demand answers

43:14 - who's going to think of those American service members first

43:18 - who's going to understand the pain

43:20 - that this war is creating right here at home

43:22 - at the gas pump and a whole lot of other areas.

43:26 - I want someone who understands

43:28 - that we can have

43:29 - chaos

43:30 - across the globe the kind of chaos that this president

43:33 - is inflicting on us

43:35 - i want someone who's going to have the courage

43:38 - of the our convictions

43:39 - and not be listening to Donald trump for direction

43:43 - but listening to the good people of Pennsylvania for direction

43:46 - that person

43:47 - is Janelle skelton

43:49 - and we need her in the congress of the united states.

43:53 - I know we're frustrated right now i know we're angry right now but

44:02 - the antidote to that anger

44:04 - is for us to get out and do everything we can

44:07 - through this coordinated effort

44:10 - by rising up

44:11 - and making sure Janelle is our next congresswoman

44:16 - this chaos this cruelty in this corruption

45:13 - been in the hands of democrats

45:16 - i am convinced

45:17 - that if we work together

45:19 - this will be the year we win the state senate

45:22 - we hold the state house

45:23 - and we have a trifecta

45:25 - here

45:26 - in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

45:29 - Who are going to rise up and do it

45:35 - and when we do it

45:36 - understand central Pennsylvania

45:39 - holds the gator this

45:40 - because if you work hard

45:43 - in neighbouring Lancaster

45:45 - you're going to make sure we reelect one of the finest public servants in

45:48 - Pennsylvania my friend state senator James Malone.

45:53 - That James Malone

45:59 - wins his reelection and i'm all in for him

46:02 - i believe

46:04 - that we will have a trifecta in Harrisburg.

46:08 - I tell you what else.

46:10 - We've been able to do all of this

46:13 - with literally a one

46:15 - seat Democratic majority

46:17 - in the state house of representatives

46:20 - i could use a little breathing room in the state house

46:23 - and the way we get that breathing room the way we expand our majority

46:33 - is to elect Sarah agates into the house

46:36 - of representatives

46:38 - and with Sarah

46:51 - we're going to raise the minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour

46:55 - in the common laughs

47:01 - We will codified abortion rights into law

47:04 - in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

47:07 - I tell you what else we're going to do

47:10 - we're going to build more affordable housing

47:13 - and take on those utility companies

47:15 - they keep jacking up

47:17 - our rates here in Pennsylvania

47:20 - and we're going to continue to get a whole lot of stuff done

47:24 - i'm going to do it

47:25 - because we share

47:26 - these values these values that value

47:29 - the good people of Pennsylvania that put them

47:31 - first

47:32 - the focus on the results that we need

47:36 - to be able to deliver a better future for our kids and our grandkids

47:40 - all all of this

47:41 - is possible and this

47:43 - in many ways

47:44 - is the center of what is going to decide whether we have a trifecta

47:49 - in Harrisburg

47:50 - and a Democratic majority in Washington.

47:53 - Here's the last thing i want to talk about

47:55 - not any of the important people up on this stage

47:58 - but i want to talk about all of you

48:00 - because you are the ones

48:02 - with the power here

48:04 - you are the ones

48:06 - who have the ability

48:07 - to make a difference you've got a whole lot of power

48:09 - because you're yelling power right there i appreciate that.

48:13 - We have an opportunity here in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania

48:17 - the birthplace of our democracy

48:18 - the swingers swing state in the country

48:21 - to decide

48:23 - what the future of the congress of the united states looks like

48:26 - and to be a model

48:27 - for good governance right here

48:29 - in Harrisburg and we now

48:31 - as a result of rise up Pennsylvania

48:34 - have for the first time mr chairman i believe ever

48:37 - the most coordinated

48:39 - well funded

48:40 - well organized campaign in the history

48:43 - of the Democratic party here in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania

48:47 - and you are the reason why

48:49 - i know we're going to win.

48:52 - Then you're going to make calls

48:56 - you're going to send texts

48:57 - you're going to knock on doors

48:59 - and you're going to do the hard work in the heat of the summer

49:25 - republican back in Montgomery county

49:27 - a little different back then than it is today

49:31 - and in that race race

49:33 - i personally went out and knocked on eighteen thousand doors myself

49:37 - i met my neighbors

49:39 - and the most important thing i learned in that race

49:42 - was how to listen

49:43 - and to hear the needs

49:45 - that people have

49:46 - understand their worries and to channel those worries

49:50 - into real action that can make their lives better do.

49:53 - You have this gift now

49:55 - this opportunity

49:56 - to fight for these great candidates here but to do so in a way where

50:00 - you're empowered knocking on people's doors talking to folks

50:03 - taking in their feelings

50:05 - and showing them how they also

50:07 - have power

50:08 - to go out

50:09 - and make a change

50:11 - and do good in their commune cities

50:13 - you've got this unique ability

50:15 - to do that work

50:17 - one of the most important times

50:19 - in our nation's history.

52:04 - who signed both the declaration of independence

52:08 - Famously after

52:10 - toiling over these docks payments and the words that would go in them and

52:14 - and having the compromises that needed to be made without compromising

52:17 - their principles their love of freedom and democracy and Liberty

52:21 - without compromising any of that

52:23 - Franklin exhausted from the events

52:26 - walked out onto the streets of Philadelphia

52:29 - and a woman walked over to him

52:31 - think about this Janelle at that moment women didn't

52:34 - even have the right to vote this woman walked over

52:37 - to one of our founders look doctor Franklin in the eye and said doctor Franklin.

52:41 - After all that what do we have here.

52:44 - A monarchy or a republic.

52:47 - Franklin looked her in the eye and said a republic.

52:51 - you i can keep it.

52:54 - All the words.

52:56 - Through all the words.

53:01 - in the declaration of independence.

53:04 - For all the words in the constitution

53:06 - perhaps the most important words

53:09 - for the American people to live by

53:11 - is if you can keep it because what that means is

53:19 - that's been handed down from us
