00:07 - not often that the Pennsylvania senate leaves
00:09 - it's own chamber talk about today's significance
00:12 - i think it's only the third time in the last fifty
00:13 - years that we've left the senate for a chamber event
00:16 - and today's
00:17 - sets of significant
00:18 - events that were taking place were recognized two
00:20 - hundred and fifty years of history and his common law
00:23 - and the role that our commonwealth and senator the Pennsylvania general assembly
00:26 - what role we play with respect to developing our history from this commonwealth
00:30 - for this country
00:31 - we're here in Philadelphia obviously the birthplace of democracy.
00:34 - Innovation
00:35 - all those type of things that are important to
00:37 - the people across this country and is commonwealth
00:39 - and we're just excited to be here today for this event.
00:42 - Talk about
00:43 - your role as someone in leadership when it comes to
00:48 - democracy and our role and
00:51 - the the last two hundred and fifty and the
00:53 - next two hundred and fifty
00:54 - going forward as a leader in the senate Pennsylvania we have an obligation on our
00:58 - past and recognize what our past stands for
01:00 - particularly as it relates to our democracy to
01:02 - ensure sure that we are taking steps to protect it
01:04 - and doing things that continue to build upon what
01:07 - our founding fathers wanted us to be able to do
01:09 - taking steps with regard to innovation and taking steps with respect
01:12 - to liberties that people have and things of that nature in our rights
01:15 - those are the things that we have to garner protect
01:17 - as we go forward the next two hundred fifty years
01:19 - that's our obligation as a leader
01:21 - in the senate today.
01:23 - Talk about your district to tell us where you're from and what
01:26 - what you're doing
01:28 - back home when it comes to america to fifty
01:31 - so i represent
01:32 - about half the city of Pittsburgh and a lot eastern suburbs in allegheny county
01:35 - and we may play a major role in some of the history
01:37 - of the two hundred and fifty years we're talking about
01:39 - our point in Pittsburgh was a big part of the conversation that took place back then
01:43 - terms of developing our country
01:45 - and we're continuing to work in that space there
01:46 - are a number of events that will be taking place
01:48 - through our history center in Pittsburgh we're
01:50 - going to showcase a number of things there next week
01:52 - so we have a four week plan at the end of
01:54 - the end of June
01:55 - that we're going to do as well.
