00:16 - we had eighty pre-registered and there are still people registering right now

00:20 - so there's going to be a big turnout this year

00:24 - much bigger it was than we were expecting

00:28 - and yeah every year's has gotten bigger and bigger people are showing up in bigger

00:32 - ways with the outfits and the presentation and

00:35 - sometimes even singing songs and

00:37 - we're really excited to see what people are going to do this year

00:48 - What was the inspiration behind

00:51 - trophy so this is going to sound hilarious but

00:54 - i actually own a recycling and disposal business and a guy

00:58 - the back half of a corvette into one of my dumpsters

01:02 - so i dug it out of the dumpster and i was like

01:05 - and so i kind of pieced it

01:06 - together i still had to buy some pieces too

01:08 - but at the one thing that i was going for is

01:11 - is actually the back half of the nineteen seventy six corvette

01:15 - so with the

01:16 - america 250, 1776 i figured

01:19 - what better year

01:21 - than a nineteen seventy six corvette

01:23 - what are you looking for in the best mullet in show.

01:27 - it has to be clean

01:28 - it also has to be there has to be a fun

01:30 - and also it's America 250

01:31 - so I think it's actually bonus points

01:33 - to have a little American flag on it or an outfit

01:35 - and kind of fits the theme too.

01:39 - This is my first competition ever

01:43 - me and my barber decided we would do it a couple months ago and then

01:46 - when we saw the day we decided

01:48 - this was the time so we

01:50 - did it freshened it up the other day

01:52 - today i'm here we call this is a little bit of urban a little bit of a classic mullet

02:04 - it's Monday morning i don't think many people are off work

02:14 - COVID era kind of had me wanting to do a mullet

02:17 - it so I've had it for about five or six years now and.

02:20 - It's pretty much it. It just looks so good i can't take it off.

02:24 - I think it's a good look i didn't think there'd

02:28 - patriotic theme this year so

02:43 - it's going to be a secret when i open it.

02:46 - He won a national mullet competition in

02:50 - and ever since we heard like a semi local one cause we're about

02:54 - almost two hours away and he wanted to do it

02:57 - so he came in second place last year and he is determined for his blue ribbon

03:01 - i'm just ready to get up there and just go and

03:04 - i look a little older than the typical

03:06 - contestant

03:14 - this is my first time ever

03:16 - entering a mullet contest well it's an

03:18 - interesting story a bunch of guys from work.

03:22 - Last year decided to start

03:23 - growing our hair long

03:26 - there's going to be a prize for the winner at the end

03:28 - and they didn't keep up with their end of the bargain

03:31 - i kept up with my end of the bargain kept growing my hair long

03:34 - so i guess my wife saw it posted that the mullet contest was going to be here again

03:39 - and i thought you know what i grew my hair i might as well.

03:47 - i'm sure there has to be an approval process with that

03:52 - she's good with it for now

03:54 - she did mention to me

03:55 - after the contest how long I was going to keep it

04:03 - as soon as the competitions over i grew it

04:08 - my dad saw it and was cool with it so we just went all out for it.

04:50 - put in my basement. it's really like i would say a little overwhelming for us in

04:59 - because to me compared to every other event what makes the mullet contest unique

05:04 - is it's so light hearted

05:05 - there is no real serious i am better than you kind of stuff going on here

05:10 - everybody's just here having a good time it is like
