00:30 - PCN presents the five eight football championship game.

00:34 - The matchup features the ten and three Archbishop Wood Vikings

00:38 - and the 14 and one at Cheltenham Panthers.

00:45 - Good evening everyone and welcome.

00:46 - Our coverage of the football championships continue alongside Ross Tucker.

00:50 - My name is Bob McCool, Archbishop Wood won the District 12 championship, Cheltenham

00:55 - won the District one championship and you may have heard the name Archbishop Wood.

00:59 - If you follow high school football

01:00 - instead of Pennsylvania, Cheltenham, maybe not so much.

01:03 - But do not be fooled.

01:04 - This is a very athletic bunch of panthers.

01:06 - Yeah, it should be an awesome game.

01:08 - And you love it. Cheltenham.

01:09 - First time here ever.

01:11 - Archbishop Wood seems like they're here every year.

01:13 - But is it different? Archbishop Wood team for sure.

01:16 - Make no mistake about small senior class, they don't have that huge

01:20 - offensive line we're used to.

01:22 - They're not littered with Division one players.

01:24 - They are just tough.

01:25 - Meanwhile, Cheltenham, they are fast.

01:28 - Should be fun. It should be.

01:30 - And again for Archbishop Wood, it's a whole nother coaching regime as well.

01:34 - Steve Devlin, who did a phenomenal job at his time, he has moved on to coach

01:38 - at the college ranks after 11 seasons, but he won five state championships.

01:42 - His first came with Kyle Atkins as a defensive back

01:45 - on that first state championship team back in 2011.

01:48 - Now the graduate becomes the coach.

01:50 - And now in his second season as a head coach, he is 19 and seven,

01:54 - but he's still taking that same Archbishop Wood philosophy of running the football.

01:58 - And Kaitlyn Costello has become that guy.

02:01 - He has Coach Atkins, by the way, making me feel old.

02:04 - We called that game in 2011.

02:06 - Now he's the head coach.

02:07 - But Calvin Costello,

02:08 - I mean, every year Archbishop Wood's here, they run the ball very effectively.

02:13 - Costello's the latest guy

02:15 - really took over that running back job about halfway through the season.

02:19 - He has been electric in the playoffs, had a couple of long runs

02:23 - against Gateway that were the difference for the Vikings

02:26 - to be able to get back here to Hershey yet again and for Cheltenham.

02:30 - Well, they're back here to Hershey for one reason and that's

02:32 - because their semifinal victory over Cattolica was played in this stadium.

02:36 - But Ryan knows what a phenomenal job he has done.

02:39 - He knows all about the fun of the Catholic League

02:41 - because he played in a played at Father Judge High School.

02:43 - But now in his third season at Cheltenham High School, 24 wins, 30 losses.

02:47 - Okay, but he is two and eight in his first year and he has built a program here

02:52 - and he's taking a page out of what a lot of people do

02:54 - with the spread offense,

02:55 - but great athletes

02:56 - to run that spread offense and the guy to take the charge of it all,

02:59 - maybe the best name of the tournament.

03:01 - Adonis Hunter Well, and they've got a lot of talent.

03:04 - Jameer Barnes some of the other speed, but Hunter is the guy that runs it.

03:08 - And you see anytime especially you're watching Bob College football these days

03:12 - so much zone read read option so many RPOs Hunter is that guy

03:17 - does it with his arm doesn't with his legs does a terrific job making the reads

03:22 - that are necessary in that offense and getting the ball on the perimeter

03:26 - to his playmakers.

03:27 - Well, the state of Pennsylvania geographically is pretty large,

03:30 - but when you take a look at these two teams,

03:33 - there's not a whole lot of separation between the two.

03:35 - In fact, ten miles between the two Cheltenham and win coach

03:39 - Pennsylvania, which is in Montgomery County, Archbishop

03:41 - Ward is in War Warminster, which is in Bucks County.

03:44 - But I'm telling you, there is ten miles between these two schools.

03:47 - You could take a ride up 611 and you'd be from one to the other

03:50 - in a pretty quick order.

03:51 - If the traffic's not too bad in Philadelphia, that's going with that.

03:55 - However, the road to get to this state championship

03:58 - may be a little bit more difficult for Archbishop Wood.

04:01 - They first had to take care of Martin Luther King to get out of the field

04:05 - at of District 12.

04:06 - And he beat Southern Lehigh, the District 11 champion.

04:08 - And then a last second field goal to take out the District

04:11 - seven champion in Gateway a week ago, Cheltenham.

04:14 - It's been a couple of shootouts in a row.

04:16 - They won the district championship game over Academy Park

04:19 - by a final score of 4342,

04:23 - and then last week in the semifinal against Calico 56 to 49. So

04:28 - this much we can say about the Panthers, they can put points on the board.

04:33 - Can they do it against Archbishop Boyd?

04:36 - And it's really interesting to Bob, because I think that District

04:39 - three and District seven

04:41 - were probably the two best districts this year at the five level.

04:44 - I mean, think about district 77.

04:46 - You have Gateway and McKeesport and Penn-Trafford or Peters Township

04:50 - and all them District three, Haygood, Calico and Warrick and Manheim Central.

04:54 - But neither one of them are here.

04:55 - It's a couple schools that Philly that made it all the way here.

04:58 - We'll see whether it's the physicality of Archbishop Wood

05:02 - or the speed of Cheltenham.

05:04 - But again, as you said

05:05 - and I always say that the great equalizer high school sports is graduation,

05:08 - it is not your are your big brothers, Archbishop Wood football team.

05:12 - It's a different look to Archbishop Wood,

05:14 - but again they have at least been here before.

05:17 - Cheltenham has not.

05:18 - I think the first few minutes has got to be very important.

05:20 - Any time you've got a blueblood,

05:22 - if you will, like Archbishop Wood going against a newbie like Cheltenham,

05:26 - you do have to

05:26 - see how the first few minutes go are the nerves there for Cheltenham?

05:30 - The good news is they played here last week against Calico here in Hershey,

05:35 - so they at least have a familiarity playing here.

05:39 - And you're right, you look at Archbishop Wood, not the same team we're used to.

05:42 - They don't have that huge offensive line and they also don't aren't littered

05:46 - with Division one players.

05:48 - They're just a darn good high school football. Yeah.

05:50 - And it's a lot of underclassmen as well for Archbishop Wood.

05:52 - Not only is their coach Young, but they are young as well.

05:55 - So we'll see.

05:56 - I mean, for Archbishop Wood, there could be some nerves as well

05:58 - just because it's littered with sophomores and juniors out there.

06:01 - Well, and you would think that Archbishop Wood,

06:04 - as they take the field, will have a really good team next year as well.

06:08 - I mean, their running back, their quarterback, so many guys are juniors.

06:11 - So we might see Archbishop Wood back here yet again a year from now.

06:16 - But for Cheltenham again they are the newbie

06:19 - is as Ross said, they are here but they are here with a purpose.

06:23 - They are again very athletic team and Adonis hunter

06:26 - distribution the football he has been very good at it.

06:29 - Whether they're running the football with Jameer Barnes or getting the football

06:32 - into the hands of people like TJ Harris, you can just take it to the house.

06:34 - Yeah, they've got all kinds of speed.

06:37 - I mean, you mentioned it,

06:38 - TJ Harris, Jameer Barnes, who's going to Monmouth, Nate Edwards.

06:42 - They give him the ball a lot on jet sweeps.

06:45 - I mean, they've got three or four guys that can take it the distance any time

06:49 - they get the football in their hands.

06:50 - So from an Archbishop Wood standpoint,

06:52 - defensively, obviously containing the edge becomes a high priority.

06:55 - There's no question they were able to get the edge against Calico

06:58 - and they took it to the house.

06:59 - Kyle Adkins and his team usually very disciplined.

07:03 - I'm pretty confident they'll have a good plan.

07:05 - We'll see if Cheltenham's able to counter it and we'll find out very shortly.

07:09 - The captains will start to make their way to midfield.

07:12 - We'll have our coin toss, our national anthem and get you set.

07:15 - It's the five eight football state championship.

07:18 - Archbishop Wood, the champions from District 12,

07:20 - taking on the champions from District one, the Cheltenham Panthers who are 14

07:24 - and one one of them's coming out with a gold in 2019.

07:28 - Again, Vikings looking for their sixth overall state title, Cheltenham

07:32 - looking for their first one will win the gold tonight.

07:37 - They raise funds and awareness for special needs programs.

11:07 - But before we do that, we check into the third member

11:09 - of our broadcast team, Meg Bulger, on the sidelines

11:12 - now, although ten miles separate, these two teams

11:15 - geographically, relationship ties run a little bit deeper.

11:19 - Archbishop Wood, head coach Kyle Adkins, of course, graduated from there in 2012

11:24 - and although Cheltenham's head coach Ryan Hayes did not graduate from there,

11:27 - his wife Katie did.

11:28 - She even taught at the school for many years.

11:31 - Ryan joked and said that she teases him, but of course is supportive.

11:34 - But the same cannot be said for his five year old twins, C.J.

11:37 - and Kaitlyn. He said they've been teasing him all week.

11:39 - Mommy's team's going to win, so I think he needs this win just to go home tonight.

11:44 - Guys, it'll be a great road trip home for Ryan.

11:47 - Now he's a beacon, giving it back to his twins son and daughter just a little bit.

11:53 - He is a great conversation.

11:56 - Great conversation.

11:56 - Before the game, Ryan was really a good guy.

11:58 - And Kyle Adkins, a bright, bright young football mind.

12:02 - Both of these very impressive young head coaches

12:06 - getting a chance to talk to both of them before the game.

12:09 - You can see how they've got their teams here.

12:14 - Cheltenham will receive the football.

12:17 - Archbishop Wood won the toss and elected to receive the Chilton

12:21 - head in the home blue with the gold trim.

12:24 - Archbishop Wood on the visiting white jerseys, black pants

12:30 - and unfortunately for us, the yellow numbers

12:33 - to go along with those white jersey to make a little bit

12:35 - difficult to find those numbers to some degree.

12:38 - But Lou like that look at the kicker for Cheltenham drills

12:42 - this one with a win behind his back in through

12:44 - and out of the back of the end zone and so on.

12:46 - The touch back shot that Cheltenham will go on defense Archbishop Wood

12:50 - will get the football to start on the offensive side

12:53 - at the 20 yard line under the direction of quarterback Max Keller, six foot

12:57 - £180 junior and throw the whole ball a whole lot, 57% completion percentage.

13:02 - But just under 1200 touchdowns, which is 12 under 1200

13:06 - yards passing and 17 touchdowns leading the way

13:09 - for the Vikings starting first and ten from their own 20

13:14 - sends a man in motion, fakes

13:16 - a jet sweep and he wants to hand it off and he gets stood up immediately.

13:19 - Defensive play to Google by Zach Gafford for him

13:23 - stacking up the quarterback at the line of scrimmage for no gain.

13:27 - We take a look at the starters for the Vikings.

13:30 - Up front the center is Owen Coyle.

13:32 - The guards are based in Yucca

13:33 - Valley and Cole Evans, the tackles Charlie Bensinger and Davide.

13:37 - Alessio,

13:37 - the tight end is David Armstrong, Andrew McHugh and Ryan Wirtz will be the wideout.

13:42 - It's Ryan Dever is their jack of all trades.

13:45 - When they go out in an AI formation will be.

13:47 - Shane Collier is the fullback.

13:48 - Caleb Costello, as we talked about, is the tailback with Keller running the show.

13:52 - Keller Doug does run with the football the first play and gets back

13:55 - to line of scrimmage and that's it.

13:57 - Now we'll give it to Costello and Shelton, have defenses all over him

14:00 - after he pushes forward for about two yards, makes it third and eight.

14:05 - And we'll look at that defense to try to stack up.

14:07 - The Vikings.

14:08 - The Panthers defense has Yassir Jenkins

14:11 - and Darren and Zaire Monken as the defensive edges.

14:14 - So you heard this year Carson the Joseph

14:16 - Thomas of the tackles Sam Sites and Nate Edwards are the outside backers.

14:20 - Zach Goff and John Mark Foreman are the inside backers.

14:24 - Jameer Barnes and Kevin Wyatt are the corners and TJ Harris

14:27 - is the free safety as the Vikings are in a third and seven

14:30 - at their own 22 yard line, Keller, on a spread out to his right

14:36 - stops plants wants to throw looking for a man trying to make a diving catch.

14:40 - Even if they hold on, it's going to be shy of the first down marker.

14:45 - And so Cheltenham does its job on defense

14:48 - as Andrew McCue tried to make the diving catch.

14:51 - Could not hold on, it'll bring up fourth down and they will punt the football

14:55 - and that is a significant three an out for Cheltenham

14:59 - you know given the amount

15:00 - of yards and points they gave up the last couple of games,

15:04 - every stop is significant for them to get it three and out,

15:08 - especially those ones down from the first two now is impressive.

15:11 - Ryan Morgan will punt the football TJ Harris is the return man.

15:15 - He will let it go.

15:16 - It will trickle to about the 50 yard line.

15:18 - So Cheltenham with 10 minutes and 27 seconds left to go in the first quarter

15:22 - takes possession in a great spot right at midfield

15:26 - after a 2929 yard punt.

15:30 - Cheltenham again we talked about Adonis Hunter in the pre game, 55% completion

15:34 - percentage, 26 touchdowns and just six interceptions to go along with it.

15:40 - He's had a terrific year.

15:42 - If you're going to run this offense, you need a guy like Adonis

15:46 - Hunter that can do it with his arm and his legs.

15:49 - Did do such a nice job of giving the linebacker

15:53 - and the secondary for the opponent something to think about.

15:56 - So much jet motion as well as well as ghost motions around the quarterback.

16:01 - So from the shotgun from the 50 yard line Shelton

16:04 - had starts on offense and Hunter wants to throw right away T.J.

16:08 - Harris makes the catch in.

16:09 - Archbishop Wood's defense is all over and they will drill him

16:12 - to the ground for progress, will give him about two yards.

16:15 - As we look at the offensive starters

16:17 - for the Panthers this year, Carson is the center.

16:19 - Joseph Thompson, Thomas and Simon Khan are the guards.

16:23 - Nathaniel Felix and Brendan Connolly are the tackles.

16:25 - John Mark Foreman is the tight end, the three wideouts.

16:28 - TJ Harris, Nate Edwards, Siddiq Williams.

16:31 - Jameer Barnes is a 1000 yard rusher as a tailback spot

16:34 - with Hunter as the quarterback after the three yard completion

16:38 - to Harris second and seven from the 47

16:45 - this time is Jameer Barnes getting nothing against the Viking defense

16:48 - here is that defense the tackles oh it coiled Charlie manager

16:52 - who got the ends Robert Jackson dropped Alessio the outside backers Nathan Taylor

16:56 - and Ryan the umbra the inside backers of Shane Collier and Tom Proponent.

17:01 - The corners Kalyn Costello and A.J.

17:03 - meters, the safeties Ryan de Virgil and Ryan works

17:07 - no gain on the play for Barnes on his first carry,

17:11 - and it'll would be third to actually lost two yards

17:13 - but now third down and eight coming up back at the 48 yard line

17:16 - make it backfield for Hunter as Barnes goes it motion from right wing to left

17:21 - and a flag comes in actually a timeout called before the play

17:25 - clock comes to a stop Archbishop Wood and actually it was Archbishop Wood

17:29 - who called the time out very interesting.

17:30 - Early timeout called by the Vikings.

17:33 - Well obviously third and long for them to use a time out there

17:36 - there had to be something they really didn't like.

17:39 - Somebody either didn't get the call or was misaligned because you don't want

17:44 - to waste a time out in that situation, especially third and long.

17:47 - But they didn't want to take the chance of giving up a big one.

17:52 - So it comes with 9 minutes, 11 seconds left to go in the first quarter.

17:55 - Archbishop Wood Abe,

17:56 - unable to pick up a first down on its first series punts the football

17:59 - Cheltenham starts its drive at midfield and right now finds themselves

18:03 - in a third down and eight from the Vikings 48 yard line in Archbishop

18:07 - Wood one state championships in 20 1113, 14, 16 and then in 2017

18:14 - the first three were at three eight, the last two were at five

18:17 - and that 2011 team may be the best team we have seen here in a long time.

18:22 - That's the team who beat Bishop McDevitt 52 to nothing.

18:25 - And that young man

18:26 - was a defensive back on that bishop on that Archbishop Wood team.

18:30 - Yeah, I think that's the best team I've seen since I've been here.

18:32 - They were on the I mean their whole offensive line

18:35 - was go in Division one as well as the tight end.

18:38 - I mean, they were very, very impressive.

18:40 - The running backs, man, they were they were a fun team to watch.

18:46 - Ryan Bates was a part of that team, of course, went on to play at Penn State.

18:49 - Colin Thompson, originally went to was the tight end.

18:51 - Ross was referred to what the Florida initially ended up his career at playing

18:54 - at Temple Frank Taylor went to Boston College here the people's twins because.

19:00 - Right correct.

19:02 - So it's now third and eight for Cheltenham

19:05 - after the Viking time out again Hunter make it backfield

19:09 - Barnes is on the wing to the right side, Sykes is on the wing

19:12 - and the left side is looking that direction.

19:14 - For Sykes, it's a little bit behind him and incomplete.

19:19 - So it's a quick three play series,

19:20 - it would appear for Cheltenham unless Ryan Nace wants to gamble early.

19:24 - But he will not.

19:25 - He will sent Luca out to punt.

19:28 - Cheltenham not able to take advantage of outstanding field position,

19:32 - a pair of three and outs.

19:33 - They got what they wanted. Sykes on the out route.

19:36 - I think if he catches

19:37 - that he has enough room to get up field to get the first down.

19:41 - Archbishop Wood is staying with defense.

19:43 - Stay here.

19:44 - They are alert for any kind of fake don't have their punt return unit out there.

19:48 - This is really their starting defense is still out there.

19:51 - Yeah, Costello is back.

19:52 - McCue was back there with him and then came

19:54 - sprinting up towards the line of scrimmage.

19:55 - But they do punt the football little Gilbert Ball.

19:57 - But again, the wind is behind him and he'll boom that one into the end zone.

20:01 - And so it'll be another touchback.

20:03 - This one on the punt will give Archbishop Wood the Viking at the

20:06 - the football back at the 20.

20:07 - They'll go down as a 48 yard punt for Ditka and with 901 to go

20:12 - after both teams unable to pick up a first down on their first series,

20:15 - the Vikings second series like their first starts at the 20 yard line,

20:20 - both teams

20:21 - kind of feeling each other out here early.

20:24 - You'll be curious to see what adjustments they make.

20:27 - Archbishop Wood This is the offense.

20:30 - We're used to a couple of tight ends and a fullback like Collier is the fullback.

20:35 - Costello is the tailback.

20:37 - Play action fake to him and Keller on a burnout try to get outside

20:41 - Got a man wrapped around him He doesn't look the football

20:44 - but they're going to say he was down great job on the defensive end Cheltenham

20:48 - will bury him in the backfield.

20:49 - It's John Mark Foreman who will sack him back inside the 15 yard line.

20:54 - Watch, John.

20:55 - Mark Foreman right side of your screen he's going to see

20:58 - Keller try to break contain he explodes wraps him up.

21:02 - I think that's a good call.

21:03 - I mean, really, he's either down or it's intentional.

21:06 - BROWN Yeah, there was way there was a flag thrown late.

21:08 - So I think that's going to be the decision whether or not it was intentional

21:12 - grounding around

21:14 - offense.

21:15 - The five yard penalty

21:17 - loss of down our officiating crew, the referee

21:20 - you just heard from him, Wade Mathis, the umpire is Jerry Jones.

21:24 - No, not that. Jerry Jones, the linesman is Michael March.

21:26 - Marty, the line judge is Dan Boyle.

21:28 - The field judge is Andrew White.

21:30 - Inside judges, Robert, fans in the back, judges.

21:32 - John Gillis, they're out of District eight.

21:34 - So the intentional grounding is going to cost them some space and a down as well.

21:39 - On the intentional grounding penalty, they're going to back up Archbishop

21:42 - Wood back inside their own ten yard line.

21:44 - I'm a little confused on that one because they marked him down.

21:48 - So how do you have intentional grounding when they already marked him down

21:52 - for a loss of yardage?

21:53 - It's either one or the other, so the back to the engine is now second down whistle.

21:57 - Beforehand there's a flag thrown again.

22:06 - I'm going to timeout maybe before the play clock was about to expire.

22:10 - So I think Archbishop Woods bird it's second time out very early

22:14 - on the football game before the penalty

22:17 - time on Archbishop Wood.

22:19 - That is their second time out of the first half.

22:22 - So the first 3 minutes and 7 seconds, Kyle Atkins

22:26 - and a coaching staff for archbishop would have to call two timeouts.

22:29 - So a little bit of concern for them

22:30 - and they are backed up deep in their own territory.

22:32 - Back to the eight yard line.

22:34 - They're in a second down at 22 all the way back to the eight official.

22:39 - So Bob, you tell me if I'm missing something here.

22:42 - But they said the quarterback Keller was down, right.

22:45 - And they marked it as a loss of seven yards.

22:48 - Right.

22:49 - Then they threw a flag.

22:50 - It's an intentional grounding.

22:51 - Well, if he's down, then it's not intentional grounding.

22:54 - All right. He was down, right?

22:57 - If it's intentional grounding, I'm a little confused on this one.

23:03 - Unless they say, yeah, the ball's coming out, unless in high school, five yards.

23:07 - Right spot is a spot right now.

23:09 - That's a loss of that. And it's a loss of down as well.

23:11 - Right. Right.

23:12 - But it must be right.

23:13 - So backs them up into a second and 22 to the eight

23:15 - and Costello will run the football just to try to buy them some real estate.

23:19 - Right now tough running for Costello gets himself about three

23:22 - to the 11 yard line and he is wrapped up and brought down there by Yassir Jenkins.

23:27 - I will say too, there are several things different in high school than

23:31 - even college.

23:32 - The NFL like holding penalties, those are spot fouls, right?

23:35 - So if it's three yards in the backfield, it's going to be second and 23.

23:39 - They're going to spot it from there.

23:40 - That's correct.

23:41 - Intentional grounding at the high school level might be the same

23:44 - must be the same issue.

23:45 - So it's third down in 19 now for the Vikings,

23:48 - just trying to give themselves

23:49 - a little bit of real estate here in there going into the win, too.

23:51 - Yeah.

23:51 - You got to be alert for a screen or a draw here if you're Cheltenham

23:56 - and here comes the draw, it's D Virgil us with the hole

23:59 - and it closes quickly or is that Costello actually on the carry

24:03 - it is Cailin Costello on the carry for Archbishop Ward.

24:06 - It was a hole close quickly.

24:08 - He got about ten on it but again they were at a third and 19.

24:11 - It's another quick series for Archbishop Wood, backed up by penalties.

24:14 - Yeah conservative call really just a zone give their but with that many yards to go

24:20 - they don't take a chance of a turnover or another penalty.

24:27 - So Morgan punts and TJ Harris will call for a fair catch.

24:42 - and with the win ultimately giving them some short fields,

24:45 - but eventually the Jaguars were able to take advantage of it

24:59 - for the second time and this time officially starting in Viking territory.

25:12 - Saadiq Williams who will get the handoff and tough running inside.

25:16 - Inside the 35 it got going down deep Williams

25:20 - just driving at £200 inside

25:23 - the 30 and will move the sticks for the first down.

25:26 - Man, you love that one.

25:27 - It ends up looking like a mosh pit of a rugby scrum.

25:31 - Look at all the jerseys, the blue jerseys, pushing and pulling.

25:36 - I mean, you might as well you lift weights all year.

25:39 - Now, some of the Archbishop Wood

25:40 - guys are trying to pull back on this on the Cheltenham offensive line.

25:44 - I don't see that very often.

25:45 - Cheltenham quickly to the line of scrimmage gone, hurry

25:48 - up on the lock, but then they'll look back to get the signal from the offense

25:52 - after the 11 yard first down run for Siddiq Williams.

25:57 - Barnes gets the handoff this time, doesn't like what he sees.

26:03 - and down to about the 21 yard line pick up of about eight.

26:09 - Barnes is the

26:13 - he is committed last week to Monmouth really came down to Monmouth

26:17 - and Albany for him you can see there his feet

26:21 - so good to be able to bounce outside and get really nice yardage

26:25 - there on first down 630 left in the first were scoreless Cheltenham driving second

26:30 - and two for the Panthers at the Archbishop Wood 21 yard line

26:33 - hunter wants to keep it himself he'll have the first down a little bit

26:35 - more as he'll fight his way to the 60 to pick up five.

26:39 - Boy, especially Bob, when you have a quarterback that's £200

26:44 - and can run with some power like that, that is really tough to stop

26:49 - because when he pulls that football, a lot of times

26:51 - you're going to have a scraping linebacker that's responsible for him

26:55 - and boy, with that size, he gets a head of steam.

26:58 - He's going to be able to pick up that those short yardage runs.

27:01 - We were looking at where you're down in the field and you watch it.

27:03 - Cheltenham there skill guys are solid.

27:08 - You talked about Sidique Williams at £200, Hunter goes at £200,

27:11 - you hear Barnes up 185, but they're solidly built football players

27:15 - and they're right now in a first and ten at the Vikings 16 yard line,

27:18 - Potter is going to hand off again to Barnes following this tight end foreman

27:23 - with the block but well played defensively by Archbishop Wood

27:27 - as top opponent will close in and make

27:29 - the tackle as Barnes is spotted inside

27:33 - the 15 at the 14, which is very close to what they need for the first down.

27:37 - But I think he'll be a little short.

27:38 - Yeah, it's a counter to the left or the right guard kicks out

27:41 - and then John Mark Foreman leads up into the hole.

27:45 - So it'll be second down, actually an eight coming up for

27:49 - the Panthers after the two yard pickup for Jameer Barnes.

27:54 - Former the tight end

27:54 - is really on a wing to the right side.

27:57 - Tariq Williams is in the backfield, but you get a whistle beforehand

28:00 - and somebody moved up front

28:04 - for the snap false start offense

28:07 - five yards, play second down.

28:09 - So the first penalty of the game

28:11 - against Cheltenham we'll see if it hurts the Panthers.

28:13 - It all backs up to the 19 yard line, puts him in a second and 13.

28:18 - They were going to throw the ball there.

28:20 - So you'd imagine on second and 13 they're probably even

28:24 - more likely to throw the ball in this situation.

28:27 - It's interesting because Adonis Hunter

28:30 - made an audible to the single receiver side to the left,

28:32 - but then looking to throw the ball back to the right,

28:36 - they've got man to man coverage down here to the bottom and a lot of room.

28:40 - Saadiq Williams goes in motion from left wing to right toss

28:44 - sweep right side for Barnes looking for some blocking

28:47 - and good job by the Vikings in pursuit will wrap him up at the 15

28:51 - so he'll pick up about four before company comes in to make the tackle

28:56 - and it puts Cheltenham in a third and about nine at the 15 yard line.

29:00 - Kind of the old student body right there sneak Williams trying to get a block

29:04 - for him on the edge as was Adonis Hunter the quarterback

29:09 - You love that to toss the ball and then go help lead student body right

29:13 - we'll see what happens here for Cheltenham.

29:15 - Do they end up if they can't pick up the first down here

29:18 - they're sitting at a third and nine at the Vikings 15 yard line.

29:21 - Again, a lot of bodies at the line of scrimmage

29:24 - and it's a play action fake and it Hunter wants to throw over

29:27 - throws his intended target a flag goes down as the pass is incomplete

29:31 - was over the head of Siddiq Williams and a little bit

29:33 - short of the tight end for mid and a flag was thrown in the backfield

29:48 - so we're going to

29:48 - wait and see what the penalty is all about here.

29:52 - Looks like it's going to be against Archbishop Wood defensively.

29:55 - They're marking at all during the pass holding defense.

30:03 - So it'll be hammer half the distance to the goal line from the 15.

30:07 - Well, to put it inside the ten to about the eight yard line

30:11 - and unlike the NFL, you can see there,

30:14 - Nate Edwards was just tackled to the ground, pulled down.

30:18 - But unlike the NFL, it's not an automatic first down, which I like way.

30:24 - I don't like the automatic first downs and those third and 18

30:27 - and there's a five yard hold that's automatic first down.

30:29 - Now, though, they could probably run it twice,

30:31 - maybe even once to get the first down.

30:33 - Looking at about a third and two here, Hunter

30:35 - has it runs into a defender bounces off that defender.

30:38 - Great second effort by Jameer

30:39 - Barnes, the Viking defense great pursuit to the football

30:42 - but the second effort should be enough for a first down

30:45 - for Archbishop Wood excuse me, for Cheltenham Boy.

30:48 - They had him in the backfield too, but

30:52 - they were all over it and that was all.

30:55 - Jameer Barnes There were a couple guys right there.

30:58 - As soon as he got the ball.

31:00 - I mean that's a difference making player right there

31:03 - to pick up those three or four yards when he probably should have lost yardage.

31:08 - You know, it's not always the 40 and 50 gets exactly what I was going to say.

31:11 - Yes, people sometimes it's the two or three tough yardage runs

31:15 - that really stand out.

31:16 - And as a result of that,

31:17 - the Panthers are now on a first and goal at the six yard line, third

31:20 - first down at this drive for Cheltenham, they started the Viking active

31:25 - spiking 40 yard line and they started with a run to Saddiq Williams.

31:29 - He picked up the first, first down, not happened

31:31 - this time the Viking defense again great pursuit to the football.

31:34 - First guy there to make contact for Archbishop Wood was Dom D'Alessio.

31:40 - They're not having a whole lot of success running inside that time.

31:44 - You see D'Alessio getting in the backfield, Archbishop Woods

31:49 - getting a lot of penetration up the middle.

31:52 - Kompany was in on that one as well.

31:55 - I think Cheltenham's going to have to try to get to the edge.

31:57 - Second and goal back to about the eight yard line now for Cheltenham is a toss

32:01 - to trying to get to the edge with Nate Edwards, his first touch

32:04 - and he'll fight his way to about the five yard line

32:07 - before he's wrapped up and brought down on the tackle for Archbishop

32:11 - Wood was Ryan Diarra, another one of those juniors,

32:16 - huge junior class, did an excellent job of being the Phil player.

32:20 - Watch him come up. He's got continuously 28 compliant.

32:22 - Nope you're not going outside I've got contain I'm making you go back inside

32:27 - and I'm going to make the tackle really well done.

32:30 - When you are the edge, the force player, contained player,

32:34 - whatever you want to call it, you got to show up.

32:36 - You got to show up right now

32:38 - and at a minimum, turn that thing back in fourth should be third.

32:42 - foreman and Saddiq Williams come out so they bring in a little bit more speed

32:47 - with Edwards in the backfield and another whistle

32:50 - on a flag on a procedure penalty again against Cheltenham.

32:53 - So the Panthers move forward and they shoot themselves in the foot again.

33:08 - They've had a couple of penalties

34:09 - So, you know, being the team that gets the first points on the board,

34:12 - whatever they may be, are significant.

34:14 - And although it doesn't look like it's as bad, nearly as bad as it was

34:18 - for you guys last night, by the way,

34:21 - you know, the Panthers still do have the wind at their back right now,

34:25 - so you'd like to try to take advantage of it?

35:15 - actually a bitter stride for stride with Jameer Barnes.

35:18 - It went right up with him to force it incomplete.

35:20 - Yeah, they like that match up and Barnes had it in his head.

35:31 - and Barnes just couldn't quite hold it.

35:34 - And so they will go for the field goal here.

35:39 - It will be AJ Moreland who will attempt a nice fumble

35:46 - He picks it up and will get tackled at the 20 yard line.

38:05 - It's it's a different era right now for Archbishop Wood.

38:09 - And yet they're still here, which is a credit to what that program is

38:13 - built in a second and three now after the seven yard run for Costello

38:16 - and a great run making people miss Palin, Costello will pick up the first Viking.

43:17 - And so the quarterback ends up keeping it and Simon

43:21 - kind of end up with the tackle at the 25 yard line.

43:29 - He was going to run it anyway.

43:31 - Here's their run anyway because they pull a couple of linemen

43:33 - to the left I think you get a fake the dove to Costello and run quarterback

43:38 - power to the left anyway not ideal in terms of the snap

43:42 - but that's what they were going to do anyway.

43:43 - Very likely for down territory here for Woods, even though it's third and six,

43:48 - they can absolutely run it again if they want to.

43:51 - Going fourth down, they're probably going to go for it

43:54 - and they will

43:55 - give it to Costello and Cheltenham is waiting for him and able to bury him

43:59 - at the 25 yard line and it's diamond con on the tackle.

44:09 - beats the block across the face and then eats up Costello.

44:14 - Everybody calls him X Man and for very good reason.
