00:01 - The idea of producing our own programs

00:04 - meant viewing things in an entirely different way,

00:08 - a way

00:08 - we were not used to with people like Hill under going away.

00:12 - All of a sudden, look around.

00:14 - There won't be any old timers.

00:16 - They're really true pioneers.

00:29 - She was a lawyer,

00:31 - but she was also an operator.

00:33 - It's very early for women to be involved in the law

00:36 - or the cable business.

00:37 - I mean, she was general

00:38 - manager of a cable company before any other woman

00:41 - in the Barcos started their own cable system.

00:44 - The old master antenna.

00:45 - They live, breathe and work cable.

00:50 - She really believed in the power of cable to educate people,

00:54 - to keep people connected to their government.

00:56 - Television was not available at that point to learn

01:00 - and to be used as a very idealistic

01:03 - and really wanted to do something good with

01:05 - with this network.

01:08 - She, along with other leaders in the state,

01:12 - were able to utilize resources

01:14 - at Penn State University for educational programing.

01:17 - I think it might have been a thought

01:19 - a little ahead of its time,

01:20 - but it carried forward and it is today where it is.

01:22 - Pennsylvania Cable Network.

01:24 - And she had this way of deciding what her mission was

01:28 - and being relentless in pursuing it.

01:32 - She knew what she was talking about.

01:33 - She knew where she wanted to go.

01:34 - She knew the direction industry.

01:36 - And she helped shape what we have today.

01:38 - She was a fighter

01:39 - and some people found that off putting and depends

01:42 - on what side of the table you're on.

01:45 - If you

01:45 - are an advocate, you got 110% of her support.

01:48 - But if you're an opponent,

01:50 - you've got to be ready for a battle

01:52 - because she just she would fight fight for her rights,

01:54 - fight for cable's rights, right to the end.

01:58 - I think one of the things that was unique about her

02:01 - was her selflessness.

02:02 - I've never saw her do anything for herself,

02:04 - anything in her own personal interest.

02:07 - They had a strong feeling about returning to the community,

02:10 - doing things good.

02:14 - I know I have a great responsibility

02:16 - to keep

02:16 - the network moving in the direction

02:18 - Yolanda set because it was the right direction.

02:20 - It was something that the state needed that the cable

02:23 - industry benefits from and is doing the

02:26 - right thing.
