00:19 - and with me today I'm so excited to have the two ag chairman from the house ag
00:24 - committee
00:24 - representative Dan Moul and representative
00:28 - Eddie Day Pashinski thanks for joining me.
00:30 - My pleasure completely.
00:32 - So we're here today to talk a little bit about
00:34 - the agriculture story and connecting that really to
00:37 - Pennsylvania story and the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of this country which
00:41 - is america two fifty pa
00:43 - so ultimately
00:44 - you don't.
00:45 - Then gimme your background
00:47 - and
00:47 - and end
00:48 - what you believe as for as the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary how we can tell
00:53 - that ag story
00:54 - you have to tell the
00:55 - story because.
00:57 - Was a time when everyone had to be a farmer because it was your sustenance
01:02 - you have to eat
01:03 - you have to grow your crop so there was a time
01:05 - when when farming was it that's what you did.
01:08 - So
01:09 - So farming is.
01:11 - Is an extremely important part of our heritage
01:15 - and this
01:17 - form show show.
01:18 - Building this showcase that we have to showcase
01:21 - what we do with our number one industry in Pennsylvania
01:24 - is extremely important and we have to make agriculture
01:27 - a part of america to fifty
01:29 - without agriculture you don't have america
01:31 - no I I agree with that and
01:33 - and Eddie you know for US and talking about ag being the number one industry.
01:38 - At america fifty pa one of the programs we're launching this month is r k through for
01:42 - classroom project
01:44 - and ultimately on our coloring book we noted
01:47 - the number one ag in the number one industry in the commonwealth is agriculture so
01:51 - you are a former educator.
01:52 - Right so ultimately we want to make sure that one of our signature projects is an
01:56 - agriculture project
01:58 - so we're so excited to be able to
02:00 - be including that in
02:01 - the commemoration of the two hundred fifty of course
02:04 - and of course the children play a major role because that's our future.
02:08 - Pennsylvania has been blessed with incredible water
02:11 - incredible soil
02:12 - and that's why aig is our number one industry
02:16 - and I also want to say what a pleasure it's been to work with chairman mao
02:20 - together we've had
02:21 - some great opportunities
02:22 - and the one thing I think we're both extremely proud of
02:25 - is the two thousand and nineteen farm bill
02:27 - and in that form bill
02:29 - is a provision
02:30 - for
02:31 - youth development
02:32 - and what you're doing is exactly what we're trying to do k through five and then we
02:37 - also work very hard with our forage
02:39 - and our ffh people.
02:41 - We're so proud of them and.
02:44 - Again
02:45 - to fifty pa Pennsylvania
02:47 - again blessed with a great water great egg
02:52 - everybody needs to eat everybody loves to eat
02:53 - and we're also going to push that pa preferred
02:55 - and that says grown in pa
02:58 - by pa pa preferred because we do
03:00 - great stuff here in Pennsylvania.
03:02 - Thank you so much and we you know rg this again so excited to be.
03:07 - Leading the country right now on the two hundred and fiftieth efforts and
03:11 - standing here today you know
03:13 - we we're in a bipartisan effort here right and that's america fifty pa
03:18 - we have bipartisan support from across the aisle
03:21 - and we are really just working towards
03:23 - pride of
03:23 - community pride of state and pride of country through the two hundred and fiftieth
03:27 - efforts and
03:28 - so let's let's get a little
03:29 - less formal and let's talk about the actual farm show have you had any milkshakes.
03:34 - I had an orange milkshake last evening
03:36 - and how bout you.
03:37 - You cannot come here without having at least
03:40 - one two three four probably a half dozen milk.
03:44 - And they're all my favorite believe me it's great
03:46 - anybody that hasn't been here
03:48 - you need to come here it's a tremendous
03:51 - experience because it's not just about animals
03:52 - it's about all the products that Pennsylvania produces.
03:56 - Well and and chairman mao you had a little bit of a story
03:59 - and a more personal story to your connection to the farm show and tell tell the
04:03 - viewer I did that when I was very young I grew up on a standardbred breeding farm and
04:08 - we had an annual yearling sale
04:10 - and
04:11 - so this is the building we had our sale in
04:14 - and.
04:16 - Every year we'd bring our yearlings up my father would actually
04:19 - get an extra stall
04:20 - right in the middle of all of our yearlings that were gone for sale
04:24 - and
04:24 - we'd throw
04:25 - straw bales in there and our sleeping bags
04:27 - and we literally spend the night in the farm show building
04:31 - year after year after year
04:32 - and.
04:33 - So I've got a lot of history with this building
04:36 - and.
04:37 - It's home.
04:39 - You could call it a barn
04:40 - it's home.
04:42 - So it and
04:43 - I challenge any other state to
04:45 - to put on what we put on here in Pennsylvania
04:48 - to showcase
04:49 - what we do in Pennsylvania
04:51 - to show me another place
04:53 - in this country
04:54 - where you can.
04:55 - Bring to the city.
04:57 - All of our agriculture experiences.
04:59 - In the commonwealth of Pennsylvania working
05:01 - within the state.
05:03 - This is it
05:03 - this this is the premier
05:05 - in the United States of america is right here.
05:08 - The largest indoor farm show there is no other state that can compare.
05:12 - And everything to dance that is so true
05:14 - now and that's
05:15 - and again we are thrilled to be here we hope that you'll visit the one hundred and
05:18 - seven farm shall we encourage you to go to america to fifty pa dot org to learn more
