Old Swedish Burial Ground, It's History!

Also known as the Saint Paul’s Burial Ground, the Old Swedish Burial Ground was established in 1643 by Swedish settlers and is located at Route 291 and Welsh Street. The burial ground is also the site of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church built in 1702 and the grave of John Morton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. It is also located alongside the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route, the trail George Washington and French General Jean Rochambeau took when joining forces to fight the battle that won America its independence from the British.
