Lawrence County, Pennsylvania's Historic Courthouses

(2018) The Lawrence County Courthouse was built in 1852 and features a portico with six ionic order columns and a cupola. In addition to the striking architectural features, this iconic building in western PA features some interesting history as well. The masonry contract for the original 1852 building was awarded to a sixteen-year old black man, P. Ross Berry. Berry went on to become a prominent contractor in the region, constructing many significant buildings in the region. Hear that story and many others on this episode of PA's Historic Courthouses.
